...or would you miss meat/poultry/fish too much?

I eat reasonably healthy now, mainly chicken, beef and fresh fish. I have been eating/trying out some vegetarian meals lately, nice, but not enough to cut out meat, etc. completely.

I would only cut it out under my doctor's orders!

I would miss cheeseburgers wayyy too much to be a vegetarian!

I would only cut it out if under my doctor's orders!

I limit my intake of red meat usually once a week sometimes every other week, eat sushi, chicken. I had a friend who was a vegetarian & she never missed the meat. Like you, I know I could do it under Dr.'s orders with little problem....now sweets, are a whole different story!

I would have a hard time not so much because I would miss meat, but rather the fact that I don't like most vegetable, so I would probably get bored pretty quickly. I'm not super adventurous at trying new things either, I would be self limited to what I would eat.

Went veggie at 21, though I started the process earlier, dropping certain things when I really thought about what they were (veal, for instance, lamb chops too), then at 20 I had to drop cow, then the next summer I dropped it all.

Only thing I've ever missed was salami, and that's while pregnant, and I hadn't actually eaten it since I was 11. I've given myself permission to eat salami while pregnant in the future, as I had so many food aversions that to WANT to eat something was an amazing gift that I should have just taken, but apart from hot dogs that's pretty much one of the grossest things I could possibly miss, IMO.

Well, officially I still allow the occasional order of fish and chips, but I think the last time I had any was at least a year ago...it just makes me feel SO sick, and doesn't fit my normal (not while pregnant) criterion of "if I could take whatever live beastie this came from and MAKE whatever I'm going to eat from start to finish, I'll eat it", since I highly doubt I could ever go fishing again, it's best that I drop it entirely from my possibilities.

No. I had to go on a special diet before my radiation for 2 weeks and could only limit meat which was only beef, chicken or pork to 4 ounces twice a day, no diary, no bread. Only fresh vegetables or steamfresh with no sauce, Towards the end of the 2 weeks I was constantly hungry and in those 2 weeks I lost 20 lbs., It was not fun and I get to do it again in the spring I hear. Practically being a bunny is not fun!1 I was getting tired of looking at lettuce. My cousins dd is a vegetarian but her dr. made her eat more protein when she was pregnant so she just had chiciken for that time.

I voted no, but it's more that I wouldn't WANT to than I actually couldn't do it. I'm not a big red meat eater, I hate steak but I do like burgers. I wouldn't miss pork much either, but I love chicken and have it nearly every day. I love fish too, especially shrimp and scallops. Those things I would really miss.

My two best friends in high school were vegetarian and when I went to their houses for dinner, I got used to eating pasta and veggie burgers; they were fine but I really would miss meat.

No, I like my beef, chicken and pork way too much to give it up

I wouldn't become a vegetarian, but I am a very health conscious eater and do eat a lot of vegetables. I think that there is room for meat in a healthy diet, but like with most things there are better choices than others.

I couldn't do it. Well I could, but then I'd have to iron supplement a couple of days each month. ;) Plus I love salmon and grilled chicken breast. Oh, and dairy; I'd be sad to give that up.

very easy for me! I really, really dislike meat. I have had no meat in over 18 months. Do I miss it? NO!:thumbsup2
I have never had steak, or anything short of a cheeseburger anyways. even when I was a kid, never cared to eat it.

raised my daughter vegetarian, and her and her husband still are. I guess I am to!:)

Could I, probably, would I, NO. Humans are not vegetarians by nature plus I really LOVE a good steak. Also, I couldn't give up milk and cheese so that would be hard too.

not all vegetarians give up dairy! I do use skim in cereal, or I use rice milk, that is WHEN I eat it. and I live on eggs, and use cheese daily, not a lot. a slice usually. I also eat a ton of yogurt.

we are called Lacto-ovo-vegetarians
some also eat fish. there are many different types of vegetarians

There is so much more to being "veggie" than lettuce, all those fruits, grains, beans, it's very easy. I don't mind the smell of meat as my husband eats it but I have rarely been sick since giving up the meat and am nearly done with dairy but being Irish have to have a drop of milk in my tea!!

Not a ghost of a chance.

I'm very carnivorous, and I have no problem with killing an animal and cleaning a carcass in order to eat the meat. (I don't have to do it too often, but I can do it, and I will if I need to.)

I wouldn't want to become vegetarian again, so no.

I tried it when I was in my teens and early 20's. I hated not having meat and chicken in my diet. I always felt hungry and not amount of tofu or faked burgers could fill that void. Then, I became anemic and I was told by my doctor to gradually introduce meat back and I was fine.

It just isn't fir me, I guess.

No way in the world. I like meat. In fact, I'm going out to dinner this weekend at a very nice steakhouse, and I already know what I'm going to order :thumbsup2

I do my best to always eat lean meat but I wouldn't ever give it up. I did give up fatty beef and chicken and so on and that was enough.

Everyone is different though. I feel best when I cut carbs out of my diet as much as possible and survive mostly on meats, veggies and fruit. It's hard to limit carbs though!
