Could we pull this off?

We'd love to do a VR at Disney on our upcoming trip, on our actual anniversary (a Tuesday), but really don't need everything that we'd be forced to pay for with an Escape package. Even the Memories package is too much for us! We were thinking about wearing very casual "wedding" attire (sundress for me, khaki shorts and white shirt for him) and sneaking in a small blusher veil for myself. Kind of like a flash mob wedding without the mob-- it will just be us, our kids and a couple friends. We'd like to sneak over to the PhotoSpot in front of the castle and say our own vows.

My question is, will we be kicked out of the park for that? Will we not even get past the gate?

I'm sure you'd get in bc your attire isn't overtly bridal but if you're caught you could be kicked off property entirely. This is completely against the rules. If you want an in-park ceremony you must go through DFTWs.

This is a huge issue for brides here because we'd all love an MK ceremony without the huge price tag so be prepared for some of the responses you may get.

amen, sister!

having said that, going to the parks for us is definitely an experience close to our hearts, so other than the veil you speak of, i don't see anything wrong with being neatly dressed and taking a moment as a couple or family to pay respect to your relationship and what you've made together. it's the group aspect that i think can get a bit more tricky then just acknowledging yourselves spiritually or ritually.

why not make your trip, have your friends, perhaps make everyone some kind of logo tee or something (ours was WeddingFest 2011!), and plan a nice group meal at some restaurant and perhaps start the meal with a toast or two?

I agree, trying to pull one over on Disney isn't a good idea and it can get you into a lot of trouble and ruin what should be a special day. There are SO MANY cast members around that someone is likely to catch on to your plan.

If you want to do more of a vow renewal there is always the option of using the swan/dolphin. We're renewing our vows there next year because we couldn't swing a DFTW package. They start at $1500 and have many options, you even get your own planner. If you have a small group of people you could do dinner in the park after (you just can't wear a wedding dress in) Crystal palace is nice and very Disney-ish. Then there is always the parade or fireworks at night.

Hi! I feel your pain - we want to renew our vows but don't need a big package...

Quick questions. You definitely want to say vows? If yes, do you really want to do it while moms are pushing toddlers around you? :lmao: I mean, that's the flow of life and so much the better if you are cool with that, it just seems a little impersonal and maybe rushed? Also, I'm personally terrified of breaking the rules all the time, everywhere, BUT if you can...I'd say the bridge to Tomorrow Land. Nice view of the Castle, less congestion.
