Could we do Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon in 1 day?

We're planning for our first trip to WDW and will be spending 7 full days. My wife, daughter and myself aren't too fond of the high dropping water slides and the slow inner tube rides are more our stuff. We just wanted to make sure we experienced as much as we could at WDW.

So having said this, would we be able to do the 2 water parks in 1 day? We were going the last week in August. If we are able to do this we would be able to do more sightseeing since that was our main focus at our time at WDW.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If crowds aren't bad you might be able to do this depending how much you want to do at each park. We generally spend about 6+ hours at TL and we ride just about everything there a couple of times. We also try to go during the off months when there are fewer people at the waterparks.

We rarely spend more than two-three hours at a time at the water parks, so I would definitely say it's doable, depending on when you get there and the crowds. It's just DH and me, and a few hours is enough to do what we want to do. We usually go at the end of the day (ca. 3 pm) when those who have been there all day are starting to leave.

I would suggest arriving at the first water park in the morning, as close to opening as possible (which I think is around 9 am), and be there until around noon. Then at noon leave for a lunch break and to beat the worst heat of the day. Then after lunch, get to the second park around 2-3 pm until closing. I'm not sure about August closing times, but we were just there in April and the water parks stayed open until 6 pm (low season is usually 5 pm).

TL is right across the street from DTD, so you may want to get lunch at DTD when you are between water parks, for a break from the heat. The only problem you may have is if it is a really hot and crowded day, and they have reached full capacity at the second water park you arrive at and you can't get in, but I don't know how often this happens. It's unlikely, just a small possibility.

We did both parks in April '05, and had no problem. We started at BB at around 10:00, left there around 2:30, got to TL by about 3:30, and left there when it closed (probably 6:00 back then, I'm guessing). We figured we'd crash at the resort (CBR) when we got back, but the kids ended up wanting to do DD, so we went there that night. It can work....

This happened twice to us in the past 4-5 years during the month of August. The park was closed to capacity by 10:30 am. With the free dining offer going on at the end of August, not sure how much that will draw in the crowds, but it's something that could occur. I might be a little concerned that if I left one water park to go to another, they might be closed due to capacity and then you might not be able to get back in to the park you were originally in. Perhaps ask a CM or go to Guest Services before leaving the first park to make sure the other is open.
I also feel you could do both water parks in one day, though I, personally, would prefer to stay put at one for the day (but that's just me). Depending on your dates, TL and BB will be open until either 6 or 6:30 pm. Also, if you're staying at a wdw resort, take advantage of the EMH. The water parks open 1 hour earlier every day for resort guests. Have a great vacation.

Afternoon thunderstorms are fairly common in August I think, and when one of those rolls in the water parks close for a while ... You might need to be flexible with the days(s) you're planning to be there late in the day.

We are wondering the same thing for the end of September. We can't decide which waterpark to go to and we only have one day for a waterpark. If we can do 2 in one day, do you have to pay twice or does your admission to one allow you to hop to the other? TIA.

You would have to pay twice Pixiesnake. There is no hopping between water parks. I think in Sept, the waterparks may close a little earlier too ? Maybe 5'ish ?
