My mom fell today - Dad's taking her to the ER. She thinks she might have broken her ankle.

Mom had polio many many years ago and it's her right leg - the one most effected by the polio. Its much weaker and if she trips or stumbles she can't catch herself. I hope it's not too major - physical therapy would be impossible with post-polio syndrome. (Post-polio causes the muscles to be inable to be made stronger through excersize and repetitive excersize can actually cause damage)

Any prayers & pixie dust you can send her way would be greatly appreciated!

My thoughts and prayers are with your Mom!

I just said a prayer for your mom, I hope it's something minor.

They just got back from the ER. Mom broke the smaller of the two bones in her lower leg. It's not considered a "weight bearing" bone so she is presently just in a splint and on crutches. She has to see her regular doc in a day or two to get a cast put on....:(

She fell while changing the water on their lawn. They have in-ground sprinklers but all of the valves are manual and she has to walk down a fairly steep hill to get it changed. Dad shouldn't be doing a whole lot of climbing up and down the hill either. So - DH & I are going to try to figure out a way to change their system over to a timer with electric switches...If all else fails my DS can change water for them this summer - he's gonna love that

Well, this sounds good, considering the alternatives. I hope you find something that will help with the sprinklers.

I've said a prayer for your mom - hope her recovery goes smoothly! Best wishes for a solution to the sprinkler dilemma!
