Could use some ideas for our daughter's first trip and celebrating adoption.

Our daughter is 2 1/2 and it will be her first trip to WDW. We have been several times. We adopted her when she was 7 months from Guatemala.
We want to make this trip special... really celebrate that it is her first trip (of many) to WDW. Not sure if we want to include anything about adoption in here since we celebrate family day in February.
Do people have any ideas how we can make this a special trip for her and our family (just her and DH and I)
We thought about ordering a cake......
any other ideas?????
To top it off it is the first time either DH or I will ahve ever been to WDW with a child.
Can you tell we are excited????

I'll be reading these suggestions, too - we'll be going in December and hope to be celebrating our daughter's adoption if all goes well. She'll be 3 and it will be her first time to Disney.

I've already started watching YouTube videos of the parades with her to introduce her to some of the sights and sounds and get her excited. I'll be showing her some ride videos as the trip gets closer, to get a feel for what she can handle and so that she knows what to expect. I'm also planning to get the book Birnbaum's Walt Disney World For Kids so we can look at the photos together.

Somethng that has worked great for our daughter to get ready is the sing along with disney DVD's there is a Beach party one in WDW and another one in DL . They show rides, characters etc...... This has been great for our daughter. SHSe loves to watch them and she will say things she wants to do. I read this idea on here a while ago and did it and it was great. They get me excited also. Congratulations on the upcoming adoption I hope all goes well!!!!

YOU COULD PURCHASE A CHARM BRACELET AT WDW AND EACH TIME YOU RETURN YOU COULD ADD TO IT THAT WOULD MAKE A GREAT KEEPSAKE. MAYBE IF YOU BOUGHT THE BRACELET PART BEFORE YOUR TRIP THEN JUST BOUGHT THE CHARMS THERE THAT WAY YOUD HAVE MORE OF A SELECTION AS FAR AS THE BRACELET GOES. WHERE ARE YOU STAYING? SHE LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE DOLL! YOU COULD ALSO PURCHASE POSTCARDS OF THE CHARACTERS FROM THERE TO SEND OUT TO HER AT SPECIAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FROM HER NEW FRIENDS SHE HAS MET AT DISNEY LIKE CINDERELLA ETC, USE YOUR IMAGINATION AS TO WHAT TO WRITE FROM THE CHARACTER THESE COULD MAKE A NICE KEEPSAKE AS WELL AND AS SHE GETS A LITTLE OLDER SHE WILL FEEL SO SPECIAL AS SHE GETS THESE LITTLE NOTES WRITTEN JUST TO HER SHE COULD SHARE LIKE A SPECIAL BOND BETWEEN HER AND CINDERELLA FOR INSTANCE WITH THESE LETTERS. THE SKYS THE LIMIT! HAVE FUN WITH ALL THE PLANNING!

We celebrated our Gotcha Day anniversary two trips ago with a special dinner and a cake. We also spent extra time in the Mexico pavillion and let the girls each pick out a carved animal to take home (they were born in Guatemala as well and that's as close as we could get).
