Two things here.

1, Lets all stay at home and watch this whole idea crumble around their tiny little minds. The travel and Leisure industry are far more powerful than this Government imagines, it will be filed alongside other silly ideas that have been found out with this Government. The think tanks ruling the establishment!!

2, Nothing we do has the slightest difference on the world pollution problem until China and the States sort themselves out.

Successive governments (including the Tories) are very fond of raising taxes but not telling you what they're going to spend the extra revenue on. This so called "Green Levy" is just the same. The only answer they come up with is "more tax". How un-original.

What about providing a better public transport system that encourages people to use it?
How about penalising the bus companies that drop unprofitable routes to flood the busy ones?
Stop building industrial / commercial estates built next to the motorway networks that don't have buses going to them yet you're discouraged from using your car? I work on such an estate ... next to the M1, no buses, don't bring your car. Eh?!

As for the end of cheap flights, the planes will still fly - the people that can afford to fly still will in the same way that the well off still drive into London and pay the congestion charge.

I agree, i think they should stop forcing taxes and do more to get people to use public transport! I would have no problem using the public transport if it was made more affordable!

We have 1 bus that runs once every 2 hours between 9-5 mon to fri? and even then the cost of taking the bus is over triple what it realistically costs to take a car! The last time i went for a course in london the 15 minute train ride cost me £25! Thats not exactly encoraging people to use public transport!
