Could this be holding back our waitlist?

DH, DD and my in-laws are going to WDW in October. DH's uncle invited himself and his wife to come along. I booked them a room at the same resort as us and the MS rep made a note in our reservations that we would like our rooms close together. We are on waitlist for another resort but they are not as it doesn't matter if we stay at the same resort or not. I'm wondering if the note to get our rooms close together is keeping us from getting our waitlist request.

I doubt it. October is crazy
First you need the reservation, then the "scheduler" attempts to honor the requests on those reservations.

What I do wonder, Do they ever try to do any 3+way trades to get everyone out of their current reservation and into their requested reservation? Or does DVC need the first guy to cancel and set-off the chain-reaction of available waitlist openings. If so, would you please be the first one to play chicken

I wouldn't think it would affect it. Although reading about all the people who call to check on their waitlist and then all of a sudden it comes through, makes me think the waitlist doesn't work. At least not as well as it could.
