Could this be a way to maximize our Fastpasses?

We will be spending 3 days at DL in the end of June. It'll be me, my dh and our 3 year old. He won't be tall enough to ride some rides, so I'm thinking... my dh doesn't really do rollercoasters but I do. We can maximize our fastpasses by just getting one fp and a child swap for rides like Indiana Jones, and Splash Mountain. Then I can get one FP or do single rider line for BTMRR and Space Mountain. Has anyone ever taken a 3 year old on the Matterhorn. He's tall enough, but I don't know if he'd like it.

Has anyone ever done this to maximize your fp?

We did this all the time when DD was too young to ride! It works beautifully! I used her ticket for fast passes, and also our 2, then we used the baby swap on top of it. It was great.
Also matterhorn - my DD loved it at age 3/4 - but she was not a scardey cat ride kid at all - she loved them, and her fave ride at age 3 was Haunted Mansion. Its just like being in a fast bumpy car - and really not all 'that' fast at all. I bet he loves it! You can put him right in front of you and hang onto him. Worst case is he doesn't like it and you don't go on it again!

Yes, when my youngest was three, we took him on Matterhorn. He liked it, but kept his head down the whole time.

I have never used child swap, and so have not done FP the way you are describing. But most definitely we have used the entrance passes of younger kids or those who do not want to ride rollercoasters to get extra FPs for others in our group. You should use your DS3's entrance ticket to get FPs for you and/or DH whenever possible.

The way you described using the combination of FP and child swap has worked perfectly for us in the past. It really does help so that you can spread out the FP's between rides.

I would warn your 3 year old about the Yeti in the Matterhorn. We tell our 4 year old that he just wants to say hi, and only speaks Yeti, so he growls. All my kids now roar right back at him. :thumbsup2

I'm all for combining FP and child swap. We do that all the time.

Ds3 LOVES the Matterhorn. He feels so big going on it because it's a "big boy ride" in his eyes. He does hold on to my hands pretty tightly but he always wants to go again when it's over. That is usually the first place we head for since it's a "big" ride that everyone can go on.

I'm thinking he will be tall enough for BTMRR and the others next time we go. He's obsessed with trains and has always been upset when big sis gets to go on it.

My little guy is about 37 inches right now and we will be going at the end of June. I dnn't think he'll get to 40 inches for splash, so the rides we can fp/child swap are: Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, BTMRR (just for me), and Space Mountain. Any that I've missed? With the Roger Rabbit ride can you really control the spinning so that you don't spin? I can do everything but spinning.

We will have three full mornings. Our second one (Mon. June 25th) will be our EE and Toontown Madness morning. Would you recommend we are at DL by opening the other two mornings and then head to CA afterwards? If so, which land should we hit first thing on Sunday morning and then which one on Tuesday morning? I figure we'll want to do maybe Adventureland/Critter Country one morning and Tomorrowland one morning. Any thoughts?

We took my friends son, 4 1/2 on it, and he was sooo scared. Not to mention how jerky the ride is on the tracks he was thrown all over the place even with the seal belt tightened REALLY tight. I won't take my 3 1/2 on it yet, but that's because I saw my friends little boy get roughed up a bit.

I don't do spinning either, and Rogert Rabbit is fine. You can let go of the wheel for some light turning, or you can fight the wheel and keep the car level. It's really not bad.

Your plan is a sound one. Combining your FP and child swap will get you on everything with minimal waiting. We did this often when the kids were smaller. For us now, we love to ride over and over again (hence the APs!!!), so get as many FPs as possible for ToT, even for any non-riders, and then run a few more people through it later in the day.

Then I can get one FP or do single rider line for BTMRR and Space Mountain.

BTW the only ride at DL that has a SR line is Splash. At DCA, Soarin, GRR, Mulholland Madness, Maliboomer, and California Screamin have it.

DD (3 at the time -- and very tall for her age) didn't go on the Matterhorn but she did go on Thunder Mtn and Splash Mtn and she did really well! The only thing she didn't like was getting wet! ;) So, I'm pretty sure that the Matterhorn would be suitable for your little guy!

If you are unsure of the Matterhorn, maybe try the toontown coaster first. It will give you a good idea if your son likes coasters or not. At 3 our kids hated them, but at 6 our daughter finally started getting more into it.

Have to second that, we do that combo the entire trip, works out great. My girls both liked Matterhorn at 3, and it is nice that it's one bigger one you can all go on together.

DD #2 finally hit 40" on our last trip and it opened up a whole new world. If he's not scared of the dark rides and such, I think he will be okay on Matterhorn. And if he doesn't end up liking it, just remind him to close his eyes and it's all fake. I always tell my kids to atleast try it and if they never want to go on it again, fine by me.

Spinning. Puke

NOBODY wants to ride the teacups with me. No spinning allowed!

My three year old (at the time) loved the matterhorn. I did just what my dad did with me when I was a kid on that ride, held onto him as tightly as I could and let him bury his face in my arms.

He was able to go on Splash last time (he was four then) and while he claimed it was very scary (the big drop), he wants to do it again. Same with TOT (though mommy has not, and will not ride it...ever, ever, ever.).
