The DIS Moderator Team. Do we have different mods? How does it work. Seems like a big change.

Normally that would work MMK, but when you go to that link, there are no moderator names listed for the Community Board (only the UK Community Board). Actually marlasmom, I just returned from vacation and didn't notice this until you posted. Color me confused too

Can't believe it took this long for someone to notice!

Pete's original plan when he chose to have moderators was for them to infuse their personalities and love of Disney into their boards, to welcome new visitors, and help people wherever they could. Instead, as the community has grown, they’ve become traffic cops and 99% of the disdain that is aimed at moderators comes from locking or deleting. This is no fault of theirs, as all policies/decisions made on the DIS are made unanimously by Pete, Alex, Michelle, Doc and myself.

The CB will no longer be moderated by select individuals. Instead, that board will be moderated by all of us. The present moderators of snoopy, nativetxn, WillyJ, Robinrs, PatrickIL, glo and bsnyder are still the "hosts" of the board. But rather than spend the majority of their time policing the boards, they can welcome newbies, start new threads (we all know Judi aces this), be friendly, and add their own personality to the board. THIS is what moderating was supposed to be about, but this board has gotten so big, that seems to have been lost in the shuffle somewhere.

So you will still see a lot of the same Mod names here as the unofficial Hosts, but the policing will be left to a special team.

Just a little update:

"The DIS Moderator Team" opened the PM I sent, but did not send me a "hi" back, or anything.

So, I'm guessing we shouldn't ever PM "The DIS Moderator Team" just to say "Hi", right?
