Could someone please explain Priceline for booking a hotel nearby the port?

Since I have heard not so nice things about the Radisson. I'm wondering if we should try over by the airport and then drive the 30 miles over to the port cruise day.

I'm confused as to what to select .. they have different catagories of hotels and I have no idea what to price them at for a good try.

Any help would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Radisson and loved it. We were there on 2/22/02. The only thing disappointing was the weather. We really wanted to use the pool but it was cold and raining that day. Our room was lovely, the service great, and the kids used the whirpool in the room as a pool for the afternoon!!!!

What did you hear about the Radisson that turned you off? I thought it was a very nice hotel. The pool are and grounds are beautiful, I just wish we could have used them.

I used priceline for the night before our cruise. I bid for a 3* in the Cocoa Beach area and got the Doubletree Hotel in Cocoa Beach for a total of about $50 ($42+ 5Bonus, and fees). They don't have any bonus money available at this time so it would be like I bid$47.If you need some help bidding, I suggest this link

This is the Central Florida info. You can also check out the Orlando section if you would rather stay over at Disney before the cruise. Please read the FAQ at this board, and check the rates of local hotels in that area before you post on it, as it is a great resource for info, but the people over at this board are not as friendly as the DIS folks. (All business) I have used this board to get several reservations across the US, and it has always worked our well for me. What bad things did you hear about the Radisson? I booked a room at the Radisson due to the recommendations from people on this board.

We have used both Priceline and Hotwire for NUMEROUS trips. We have gotten MCO-area hotels (LaQuinta and Renaissance) for $28 before the fee and Hotwire for $33 (Amerisuites) before the fee. That includes shuttle and also free breakfast at most of the hotels, and then we just have Happy Limo pick us up in the morning. With Hotwire, you have a little more control than with Priceline (you can tell which hotel is the Amerisuites due to the amenities), even tho' it tends to be a few dollars more. I LOVE the internet!!!

How can you tell which one is Amerisuites?

Right now I'm debating doing the Radisson at $59 a night and parking there ... or ..... doing priceline / hotwire and trying to get something cheaper w/ a breakfast and then parking at the port.

I'm leary of the Radisson because I have seen posts saying it is shabby and unkept and that it's only the $99 suite side that is nice, not the $59 reg rooms.

In fact someone just posted that they were just there Sat, night!

Not sure if this is due to spring breakers .. or what.

I also have had people express concern over parking at the Radisson lot during the cruise.

We've stayed at the Radison the night before our cruise - it is a lovely hotel - clean and accomodating! - I can't understand what anyone would complain about. We also left our Lexus for the week long cruse - it was just fine! Now, can anyone tell me hoe to get a $59 rate? We will be sailing again in Sept. and November and the best rate I coud find was $99. Thanks.

I used the FALL rate for the $59 .. booked on line.

This is for a standard room ... the suites are $99.

Thanks for the input. I bet the Radisson is just fine.

I think I will keep things as planned.

You can usually tell the Amerisuites because of the amenities. Hotwire doesn't tell you the name of the hotel until you commit to booking, but they do list the price and amenities of each unnamed property. So far, whenever we've picked the one with kitchen facilities, laundry, etc. in the #33 range, it has turned out to be one of the two Amerisuites.

It did not give me that option .... there were three listed and none of them had a kitchen listed.

So I guess that one was "out".

But .. probably stay with the Radisson.

I just checked Hotwire for the night before our 11/30/02 cruise. Put in Orlando Airport as my location and when the choices came up, checked the amenities for the one in the $35 or so range. That's the one that said it had suites. However, do you remember the number of stars associated with the Amerisuites hotels? Hotwire had this particular "suite" hotel, with kitchen type facilities, as a 2 1/2 star.

Since we'll be me, dh, ds (4.5) and baby ds (4 months) I like the idea of a suite with at least a small fridge and breakfast included before departing.

Yes! - I finally got my reservations at the Radisson for $59 - (Guess the site just wasn't offerring that rate yesterday!) Thank you all - once again this board has proved invaluable......and I saved on my 2 reservations, Sept. and November!
