Could someone explain the trading of pins?

Wow, BunBunzDad.....having a bad day?

Chase121698, pins that are traded in the parks must have the official Disney logo on the back. You can trade with CMs and other guests as long as they are willing. We had a great time doing this with my niece (age 4) on our last trip. We bought a couple of sets off of ebay at a cheap price. Remember, it doesn't matter what you buy (whether you like them or not) because the whole point is trading them off!

Let me know if you need other details.

Check out the Disney store online. Right now they are having a big pin sale. My kids love to trade as well. Just buy as many as you can before your trip; doesn't matter if you like them or not as long as they are actual "disney" pins w/the offical logo on the back. CM's always trade, but will not take a pin from you as a trade if they already have that one.

I might even buy a lanyard and some pins for myself for our next trip. It's fun!!

And if you have any more questions feel free to hop on over to the Collector's board. We are a great bunch over there and can answer any questions you might have.
You can go on different web sites to purchase Disney pins for cheaper, such as cheappins.com, but the pins that are on sale at Disneystore.com are great for trading.
Just remember to buy two of everything, because once you get started you will want one to trade and one to keep. Peggie

I started trading a 2 1/2 years ago. Maybe I'm Obsessive compulsive... But I really love it!

Starting out is tough because if you wait until you get to the parks, you need to buy the pins at the parks to get started. They usually cost $7-10 each. Then you might as well just buy the ones you like instead of trading.

But, trading is the fun part. We buy a bunch of pins ahead of time from ebay of cheap pins for $3 or less. Like someone said, you don't have to like them because you are going to trade them.
They can even all be the same. It doesn't matter.

Many Cast members will have on lanyards with pins. They must trade any pin you want for your disney pin (as long as is has the disney tm on the back. They can say no if they already have your pin on their lanyard.). My kids love to lanyard hunt.

We love it! My kids only trade with Castmembers because there is no risk of rejection. Many individuals with lanyards will trade very happily with kids. Others may have some rare or limited edition pins and not want to trade. They will usually be very nice about it.

Disboards has a good board for pintrading and so does dizpins.com

Have fun!
