I'm new to pin trading and I've heard of pin boards. Could someone please explain what they are, how they work and where I find them? Thanks so much.

Briefly - you usually find the pin boards at special pin trading events like the one taking place in September at WDW.

Cast Members have one or two large cork boards set up (facing away from you) with many pins on them. You present two of your pins to the CM without the pinbacks on them. Depending on the size of the board, you have a time limit to trade - somewhere between 30-60 seconds. You look at the board and point to the pins you want and the CM removes them for you. You then get back into another line and start the whole process over again.

There are variations on this theme with smaller boards on a rotating table where you spin and whatever small board stops in front of you, you trade from. You have less time to trade on the smaller boards.

Some people can do this all day long at an event. I can usually last about 3 hours before I take a much needed break.

We just did our first pin board exchange last week!

The one we found was at the pin store in DTD. It was mounted to the wall and was about 3x3 feet. We got in line and, when it was my turn, I handed two pins without backs to the CM. I then got to approach the board and had 30 seconds to pick two different pins off the board. This set-up isn't available all the time, though.
