Could somebody explain the photopass system to me?

$99 for the cd seems like a lot?

Yes, it does but if you have lots and lots of pictures taken then it can become a great value.

Each picture individually is $12.95 through Disney so if you had 100 photos taken that you like, then the Photopass CD becomes much more of a value.

It all depends I guess on how many photos you have taken and how many you want to keep.

The CD holds around 300 photos.

So let me see if I understand this as well, it costs nothing to actually get the photopass card and have the photogs take pictures of you...but if you choose to buy the photos, that's when the cost comes in? I would say its a win/win situation if there is no upfront fee....

You are correct there is no cost to you until you buy the pictures or CD. You can even view them online and share with friends/family at no cost.

Want to make sure I get this right.

So if you wait and view the photos online when you get home, you can share the photos free, but if you want to have Disney print the photos and mail them to you it's $12.95 per picture, plus delivery? How do you share them online? Is it through OFOTO (Kodak)? Once you share them, do they have to buy the photos from Disney or can they save them and print them on their own?

Sharing in that you can give them a link to view them. If they want some, they have to buy them. There is NO way to get them for free.

You and family will be able to view them at the Photopass website.

I'll share mine from August that are about to be deleted (they sent me an email this morning warning me) they are HERE. This way you can see what the website looks like.

Family members could view them online through Disney, but if you want prints of them, you still have to pay for them (as would family members) at the same price - I think. It's pretty steep. The only way to pay a little less is if you gets lots of pictures and buy the photo-cd for $100. Once you buy the CD, you can print from the CD (you then own the rights to the photos, so you could share them however you wish).

The only exceptionI know of was a Disney Visa promo for one free photo in Epcot, but I think that ended.

Thanks for the responses. Thought it sounded too good to be true. Will the photographers take a picture using your camera, as well or will they use just theirs?

I love your photos Beattyfamily!! Thanks for sharing!

One question, the date like the 2006 in the bottom left hand corner, are you saying these are not avaialble if I buy the Cd at the park?

We really want the year on some of the pictures, and the ghost at MNSSHP ( someone said tiers didnt come out? ) What about the holding Tink and Simba pictures? These are the ones we really really want.

Im not good with digital stuff, so would prefer to view and buy at park, as we are from the UK, and I would worry that the on line stuff would go wrong! Safer with it in my hand lugguage, i think ! :thumbsup2

Please can someone explain this bit to me.

Thanks.............. Linda

This is what I heard. You can no longer get any enhancement like borders, dates, signatures but you can still get Tink and Simba but I'm not 100% sure about Tink and Simba so I would check with someone at WDW before I leave if I were you.

What I would do if I had enough photos to make it worthwhile to buy the CD but I also wanted Tink or the MNSSHP ghost or a dated photo, I guess I'd just buy those couple of photos individually and then buy the CD as well.

Also, someone suggested going to the Creative Designs board here on the DIS because they have a bunch of great boders and what not.

Actually... you can save the photos to your hard drive from the photo pass web site. If you use Internet Exploer and go to "file" you can save the web page to your hard drive and you will end up with a folder with the pictures inside.

Ok then well you aren't suppose to and I don't know anything about that way. I know of another way but they are very poor quality.

I won't be advocating trying to get them for free.

So, does anyone know for sure that you can or cannot get these on the CD? We had the ghost shot last year, and a few Stitch shots, and I'd hate to get the CD and not have those enhancements on there.

Also, what are the locations where you can get the CD, and is it pretty instant (meaning you don't have to pick it up the next day or something)?

It's instant but sometimes it can have a long wait depending on when/where you have it done.

I'd start a new thread on the Theme parks board and find out once and for all. I'm pretty sure you can get Tink on the CD but just not the borders, signatures and dates, things you'd need the CM to do for you before getting it onto the CD, but the CM doesn't do the Tink (its put there automatically) so my guess is it is on the CD.

Good luck!

You do get the photos with Tink that are added before you view the photos but you cannot add anything else like borders.

Perfect, thank you! I figured Tink and such would be there, since last year she was already on there before we added borders at the photo place.

I went away for a few days and suddenly I have a thread full of great responses! Thanks guys!

So, as I understand it, you just get a photopass card from any photographer, keep it, and give it to each photopass photographer that takes your picture, after which time, the photos are stored online. You can then pick and choose what photos you want to either buy individually or include on the cd. This all correct?

Also, somebody said that if I give them my digital camera, the photographer will also take our photo with that. Is this true of everyone, or just certain kind photographers?

This is great! Me and my fiance will be married in just over a week and will be Honeymooning at Disney! This will be the perfect way to get lots of pictures of us together since it is just the 2 of us on the trip!

One quick question: you said the photographers are easy to spot, but are they like some parks (non-Disney) and continually approach you or do you have to approach them?

Thanks!!!

Jumping in here, I am leaving in 2 days (YEAH!) and just realized I don't know much about this Photopass, either. This may be a dumb question, but will we have one card for our family, or does everyone need their own card?
Mrs. Mud,
I missed you by a week, we're leaving this Saturday going to the 10/5 Party.
I hope you had a great time!
BTW, if you got the photopass, post when you get home and tell us how it was :goodvibes

From what I understand, you must approach them. They're much easier to spot now; Disney finally implemented a designated costume for the photopass photographers. I would describe it for you, but I've forgotten everything about it except that they all now wear the large khaki-colored photographer's vest, and they'll all have huge cameras.
