They're talking on the news about us striking on a "very reliable source" that Saddam and two of his sons along with some higher ups were in hiding somewhere and he bombed the place and it "left a big crater" and that it will take days and possiblly weeks before we'll find out who was killed in this strike...if we ever find out at all. That must've been some bomb!

It feels like kind of a relief to know that this war could soon be over.

Fox News has certainly had the scoop this entire conflict. They've put CNN to shame.

You think the pilots drew straws for who got to dump those bunker busters? BUNKER BUSTERS on a house. Oh my

ABC is just now breaking into regular broadcasting now.

Actually, I've been watching for the last hour or so, and MSNBC was the first network to report this. (not the actual bombing footage, but who the targets were) As soon as I saw it, I started flipping around for confirmation, and it was a good 15 minutes or so before Fox and the others started reporting it as well.

I sure hope it turns out to be true, and that they can find some definitive proof to show the Iraqi people that their tormentor is gone for good!

One can only hope and pray that is will be over soon.

I hope for the worlds sake they got his sons, too.

Uday should have been put away a while ago. If he were anyone else, he would have been.

God Bless our troops!

We can only pray that he and his sons are finally dead.

.....the warplane dropped four GBU-31 Joint Direct Attack Munition weapons, the 2,000-pound smart bombs known as “bunker busters,” leaving giant holes in the ground,

One could only hope that he and his sons were both inside that building. The Iraqi people will be so much better served when they have the society they've only been able to yearn and dream about.

As a side note. Did anyone see the CBS evening news report by a female reporter who was standing in front of that rubble asking how the Americans could be so cruel as to bomb in a residential area? When my husband and I saw her reporting I asked my husband if she knew who was in there. I was surmising that it was some bath party members, but SH? Geez, who wouldda known? I hope he rots in HE double hockey sticks.

It's always the eeeevil Americans, isnt' it. You think that reporter has taken the time to stop and think about Saddam even now turning his people into human bombs, not to mention WHY he is holed up in residential areas to begin with?

Let's hope so. Then maybe all the poor souls he's tortured and killed over the years will rest in peace.

From the Washington Post article. Some guys have all the fun! 12 Minutes! Incredible!

"We used four weapons on the target," Air Force Lt. Col. Fred Swan, told Pentagon reporters of Monday's attack in a telephone interview from the region. "From the time we got the coordinates, it took 12 minutes to get the bombs on target."

Swan, one of four crewmen on the aircraft, said two earth-penetrating GBU-31 2,000-pound bombs and two delayed-fuse bombs of the same size were used.

He said he did not know who was in the destroyed building, but that the air traffic controller in a nearby airborne radar plane told the B-1 jet's crew before the daylight raid, "This is the big one."

Is there any way to find out exactly who that CBS reporter was?? Just curious.

Mermaid,

I just looked her up on the CBS news website and her name is Lara Logan. You can bet I'm not watching CBS when she's on ever again. I understand sympathy for the Iraqi citizens, but what ever happened to reporting the news without your own personal slant on the story? That, along with Lara not researching the facts before jumping in front of that pile of rubble to trash American troops for bombing "innocent citizens" makes her a very poor excuse of a reporter. I wonder what she has to say now that the reason our troops bombed that site is with the hopes of ending the life of Saddam and not just dropping bombs on innocent citizens.

I hope it's true, but I'll remain skeptical until the proof is really shown. I find it hard to believe this man and entourage would surface to this extent after being "underground" for the last few weeks. Especially after what happened to Saddam's cousin in the south. If it wasn't him/them, then he's laughing at us from somewhere and that irritates me.

Btw....what is the information minister saying about it? I'm sure he's in the "know.":p ;)

Fox news is reporting that the "chatter" among the enemy is not any different than before the air strike, indicating that Saddam is probably still alive. They still won't say for sure that they have killed "chemical ali."

I still expect all these people to appear in Syria and set up a government in exile.
