Could Not Change Arrival Date-RPH

I had Royal Pacific Hotel (RPH) reserved for 4 nights room-only (June 17-21). I called to change arrival to June 19 and length of stay to 2-nights (June 19-21). I was told that the "system" wouldn't allow any arrivals for June 19 at the RPH, so I had to book at the Hard Rock Hotel for a slightly higher rate and cancel the RPH reservation.

I've never had a problem at any hotel with changing my reservation when its within the time period of my original reservation and prior to the cancellation date cut-off. I thought about calling back later, but the availability of the discount I'm getting is limited and I didn't want to chance not being able to get it at all.

I have had this happen to me at RPR more than once. It is very frustrating. Rooms are available if you want to book for four nights, but not two or three. How is that possible? Obviously, the rooms are available, but not for the combination of days you need.

Your post made me think of a possible reason why... Some of the Universal Packages are based on 4-night stays and rooms may be blocked for a certain amount of time to keep these options available for sale.

Like you noted, it is frustrating since I already had a reservation that covers those 4-days, but can't change it to only 2. The indication from the reservationist was that she couldn't book my new arrival date. It sounded like I could have changed to a 2-night stay if I kept the same arrival date.

I wanted to make a reservation at HRH for 4 nights in August with their stay 4 for free promotion from Aug 3 departing Aug 7. The system does not allow it - I can make the res for Aug 3 departing on Aug 8 so the room is available - the reservation agent said they have a 5 night minimum for the rate if we arrive on the 3rd - even though the rate requires only a 4 night stay. Does not make sense, but what do you do????

Website is the same as the reservation agent. The rates disappeared on the website as well. All AAA rates and the 4 for free rooms disappeared at the same time. They apparently blacked out the two rates for my time period when they opened in the morning. I thought AAA rates disappeared as the particular type of rooms were filled - not all at once (standard, deluxe, club, suites, etc). Oh well. I had been looking at the rates for a few weeks - that's what I get.

Your package is available on expedia for those dates Aug 3-7 with the play 4 free package as long as you book before April 2. It looks like it is available for both Royal Pacific and Hard Rock Hotel (but it isn't clear with the HRH). You could call them and check it out to be sure.

Thanks - I'll check. I did find it on Travelocity, but when I tried to book it it became unavailable. I hope Expedia does not do the same thing. I'll try right now.

I checked - I did not find the rate. I see 259 with party pass - I did not see the play 4 free rate. I do not know what a party pass is. Am I doing something wrong on Expedia??? How do you get the play for free rate up?

There is a note that says, all packages booked before April 1 will include the play for 4 rate. Give them a call to check it out.
