What type of costumes are worn at the Halloween party?

DS wants to be one of the twins from Matrix. Here's a link to the costume http://www.halloweencostumes4u.com/

Right now I only see it in adult size, however I'm sure they'll have in kid size by this fall.

Is it common for older kids to dress up for MNSSHP. DS will be 11 when we do the party on the Oct. 3 and 12 when we do the party on the 5th.

Are there any policies on what type of costumes can be worn. I want to stay away from anything that will freak out the little ones.

If anyone has any ideas or input, please share.

Oh, what about adult costumes?

First and foremost, you are going to want to be very comfortable in the costume. Second, the CM's won't let someone on a ride if the costume is too large & cumbersome, or could potentially cause problems for other riders.

In 2001, we went to MNSSHP on Halloween night, so people were really, really dressed (especially the kids). About 80% of all the little girls were dressed as one of the princesses, while the boys were various things (pirates, ghouls, etc). We did see a few people being turned away for having inappropriate things (swords, plastic knives, etc) but that was right after 9/11. I also saw a few people that were turned away from certain rides because their costumes wouldn't allow them to properly fit into the seats.

Plan with all of this in mind.

I would think the heat should also be a factor in picking a costume. This will be our first MNSSHP (10/19), but we are strongly considering the heat when picking our costumes. It sort of counts out lots of the great costumes, but we don't want to be miserable. Have a great time!

Great advice! I dressed up in a Eeyore costume last year & it was so HOT! I didn't wear the costume too much.

I think Disney has some sort of disclaimer which says something like costumes can't be hazardous to others.

We went the Sunday before Halloween last year and very many people had costumes. Some were really well done. Have fun. :D

While I had sewn a random fairy godmother costume, it was much too warm last year. I ended up just wearing the cape over my t-shirt and shorts. Not the effect I was hoping for, but I was more comfortable. DH wore a shirt from Target that said "costume" and DS just wore regular stuff (He was 13 then, and didn't want to look different!)

Blood and gore, realistic weapons, and costumes that look too similar to Disney Park Characters (ie adults dressed in very accurate princess costumes) are not permitted. Decisions on granting/not granting admission based on costumes are made by management on a case-by-case basis.

BTW, the adults in costume rule is also part of the normal guest dress code. I will post an update on the appropriate thread.

Thanks for all the help guys. I can't believe I didn't think about the heat or making sure we're able to get in and out of the rides.

Steve, can you post a link to the thread you're posting an update about the dress code on?
