Costume Ideas for the Halloween Party

The website had reported you could wear it in at 3, but someone on another website called Disney and were told that no, you couldn't wear it until the party starts. :confused3

For myself (if I'm able to go), I'm going to plan for the 7 PM thing, as Disney might change policies anytime. (Even if the first party they DO allow adult costumes in before the party starts, that doesn't mean that they won't change their policy for the next party that takes place a few days later.)

We go in at 4:00 every year in full costume, as do many others, and there has never been any problem. Actually, the CM's working the entry area are always extra friendly and want to talk about our costumes. As far as the costumes go, there are tons of kids/people at the MK every day of the year dressed up in some way or another who are not denied entry or asked to change, so whoever gave out that information might be misinformed.

Are you talking Disneyland or WDW? This is the California side. :)

This is also a year-old thread so some of the speculation has been cleared up. For Disneyland's party in 2010, you could indeed go into Disneyland dressed up on party days ONLY, regardless of your age. I THINK you could technically wear the costumes all day, but certainly starting at 3 or 4 (whenever the people with party tickets could enter).

If I recall correctly the current official costume policy at Disneyland for non-Halloween-party days that you can't wear costumes if you're over 9. I'm sure kids a few years older could get away with it. See http://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/?name=ThemeParksFAQPage#qa10

Some teens have certainly come in wearing interesting ensembles (I saw a very colorful crew for the World of Color premiere!). And of course there are days like "Bat's Day" when a whole lot of people will be wearing really unique/interesting things. But on regular days, I know people have been asked to leave because of their "costumes" (someone on another board complained that she wasn't allowed to wear a wig! That might be covered under http://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/general/#general-q15 ).

Anyway, there are certainly restrictions on costumes in general. If you're an adult coming in a Belle ballgown costume on a regular day, that's definitely not going to fly! :flower3:

We went in at the early time last year in our costumes. We didn't have tickets to go in other than for the trick or treat party so we wanted to spend as much time in the park as possible. We also didn't want to leave and go back to the hotel to change. Nobody minded and there were many others in costume, but I don't know what the official policy is. It never occurred to me last year that you could get in but maybe not be able to wear a costume until later!

Year before last, dd and I dressed as Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. We didn't try to look like the movie or book characters, we just got matching outfits with striped shirts, striped sweaters, and pinwheel beanies. Everyone knew who we were and it was easy to get around.

Last year I went as Harry Potter and dd as Minnie Mouse. Those were also easy and put together with things we already had.

This year the whole family is going and we're going to be garden gnomes.

DH and I are thinking of going as Peter and Wendy, but i'm having a really hard time finding a costume. I have no skills, so making my own is out of the question too.

Family did Peter pan theme one year. Wendy is difficult. I had to use an Alice dress without the apron. It was short, but it worked.

I went on Monday night and saw today too since we were there but did not attend the party again.

People form a line at the special event ticket entrance line at about 2- 2:30pm, by 3pm there is quite a line for entry. Everybody is dressed up at that point, Disney characters were not a problem. In fact there were some women dressed as Disney Princesses all walking around together and looked so legit that my 6 year old started screaming and jumping up and down. I even thought they were the real cast member princesses until I noticed they were holding the trick or treat bags.
If you are attending earlier in the day only kids can dress up, and a good majority were dressed up all day.

As far as Characters and what to dress up as, we saw a ton of princesses... a lot of minnie's, a few jack and sally's, a lot of toy story, but there were also a lot of people dressed in non-disney characters.

Not to thread jack but what about the "skank" factor? Like, I don't want to go dressed slutty with cleavage but it's hard to find costumes that go very far down your legs. Do many ladies wear the shorter costumes? I went last year but didn't really pay attention. I was thinking of covering most of my legs with tights/nylons anyways.
