DH and myself are taking a vacation without our teenager and will be enjoying Epcot's Food and Wine festival. We have tickets for the Halloween party and are at a loss for what to do for a costume.

We are flying so the costume can't be too large or too heavy. I would like to put something together that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I want a cute and appropriate costume for the Magic Kingdom (not skimpy).

Any suggestions?

I'm cheating a little this year. I found a great t-shirt on Etsy; it's black with a Mickey pumpkin and a Minnie bow on it. The maker asks for specific bow colors, so I had it in lime green - which happens to match the purple witch hat with Minnie ears and a lime green polka-dotted bow that they're selling on Disney shopping. I'm planning on wearing black or denim capris with it. So, I'll still be dressed up, but not a full costume either.

In the past, I've been the hippo from Fantasia (grey sweatsuit with a yellow tutu and ears I put on a headband - I also carried a little stuffed alligator that I put a shiny read cape and hat on) and a pirate (black skirt pinned up on one side, black blouse, red waist sash and the Pirate Mickey ears they sell at Disney).

Have a great time at the party!!

Last year for the Disneyland version of the party we wore Ghostbuster's t-shirts we picked up at Kohl's for less than $10. They were AWESOME! We just wore them with jeans. It was super easy. They glowed in the dark and we got comments all night -- lots of people sang the ghostbusters song to us :lmao:

I'm going as a 20's flapper and DD (25) will be a 50's rocker chick. Last year I was a hippie and DD was Marilyn Monroe... yes, we really plan and get into it... putting our costumes together is half the fun! :woohoo:

Last year I was the "devil in a blue dress" for Halloween. I wore a blue dress, a devil tail, horns that clipped into my hair, and carried a red pitchfork thingy. A friend of mine loves to go as a "pun". One year she wore pig ears and a pig nose and wrapped in a blanket. Pig in a blanket! Another time she taped packs of smarties all over her pants. Smartie pants!

I've seen a lot of Jack Skellington and Sally for couples. If there's a catchy tune, like Ghostbusters, Davy Crockett, or the like, you'll get a lot of comments too. The year that I heard the most comments, was when my ex dressed up like Dreamfinder (from Figment's ride). Comments galore and even people wanting pictures with her because the costume turned out great, she even had a Figment doll with her. The best part of the night was at the end when we were heading out, we were taking the final picture in front of the mickey "ghost" light. After we got done and started gathering our things, the photographer called us back. When we turned around there were two other girls dressed exactly the same, one Dreamfinder and one Sorcerer Mickey. Talk about weird.

mrp: The fantasia elephant sounds so awesome. That is very creative.

Black shorts, white t-shirts with your names on them and mouse ears. You're now members of the Mickey Mouse Club.

dh is going as a pirate, i am the Black Widow and our df is going as a fallen angel. :)

My wife and I went as Wilma and Fred Flintstone one year, and our 2 year old daughter was Pebbles, complete with the bone in her ponytail.

For you two, a simple costume is to buy Thing 1 and Thing 2 t-shirts (80stees.com is one place to get them).
