Costco's milk container - I got a reply

Sams Club has those and I hate them! My dad used to be the dairy supplier for Sams Club here locally and the reason they changed to that brand (who came up with that container from my understanding) wasn't to reduce cost and clutter due to milk crates, it was because they got a better bid from that supplier. Makes sense if they have Sams Club and Costco. Actually before their milk didn't come in crates (at least here it didn't) it came on wire shelves that were on wheels that were supplied by the dairy distributor, so when milk ran low the stockers just had to push a new one in.

Our Sam's Club had them too for a very long time, but they have gone back to regular milk jugs. Thank goodness!

I was wondering what everyone was talking about in the other thread. Our Costco has the regular milk jugs like the grocery store. I save $1.00 a gallon, so even if they switch to the new container, I'm still buying it at Costco.

I watched news programs and dreaded getting the bottle at my costco. However, after reading more about it and getting used to it, I don't mind so much. And I don't spill it either. We go through 4 - 5 gallons a week so it's a huge savings to buy from costco!

Read this for more info about the milk container.

And costco isn't the only store that is using this type of milk jug.

That's the same article I remember reading about the new design of milk jugs. :)

We still have the regular design here in Hawaii. Milk is $4.65 a gallon at Costco, and about $8 out in town.

Our Sam's Club has always had the regular containers. Must depend on who supplies them with the milk on what container they use. I have never seen milk in a container like that. I must admit it is weird looking and from the pic. looks like it would make a mess.

:thumbsup2 I have an 11 y/o who has enough trouble with the regular jugs. I can't imagine if I had to buy those newer ones!
