Costco vs. Sam's Club

Sam's has the most limited selection of the wholesale clubs, IMO.

Costco is a bit better, but pretty comparable. Their cakes are better.

BJ's, IMO, is by far the best of the three. They have smaller quantities available in the produce and meat depts, but at the same prices. This is grest for us, as we only have 3 in our family, and if we had to buy a three-pack of lettuce, most of it would go bad before we could use it! They have a much bigger selection of most things... more toys, more brands of canned goods, more books, CDs, etc.

I have had memberships to all three in the past couple of years. Currently, I belong to Costco, but would want to go to BJ's if I had my choice. BJ's is just too far away- I'd have to pass Costco and Sam's to get there. So, since Costco is closest, that's where we belong.

I belong to both (and BJ's as a third) Costco and Sams are about equal to me. I like the meat & frozen goods in Sams better but Costco has a lot of their own brands of items that are very good. I like the clothes better at Sams.

Another vote for Costco. We belong to both. Sams is about 10 min in same town. Costco is about 20 min away. We go to Sams to pick up things we need more frequently but IMO Costco is much better in selection and price sometimes.

I prefer Costco to Sams, they are equal distance to me. I use all the "kirkland" costco house brand products (i.e. laundry detergent, fabric softner, dishwasher detergent, etc.) In my area Costco is better staffed then Sam's. Also, their gas prices tend to be cheaper.

One more vote for Costco. The quality of their products is much better between the stores in our city and our Costco has a gas station where our Sam's Club does not (and lately, that's a BIG plus!). Also, our Costco is cleaner, better organized, and easier to maneuver than Sam's.

Another vote for Costco. We have both, and Sam's is definately closer, but I'll pick Costco over Sams. They seem to have better (more upscale) products.

But, in defense of Sam's Club - I do use them for all my digital photos. You can upload online and pick up after an hour (and it's easy to use, for us Poohbrains) :rotfl: .

The last time I checked, Costco did not have that option. It's been a while, so they may have it by now.

BTW - Does anyone know where the closest Sam's Club is (to Disney, that is)?

We have had both and I must say I'm a fan of Costcos and also my kids love to eat the pizza they have at the snack bar..and you can't beat the price for a cheap dinner.

I just noticed today that Costco as fruit smoothies for $1.35 :drinking1 ! Of course the machine was broke  . I bought some contact lense solution, a 3 pack for less than $8! I've bought optifree for the last 10 years but decided to try the Kirkland brand. What a bargain! I don't even know if Sams has their own brand, never even looked to buy it there.

You can upload your pictures at Costco too, (at least I can at mine). My kids also like to go shopping there on Saturday and Sunday and have "lunch" snacking on all the free samples.

Maybe because I'm Canadian, but our Costco's are older and much more crowded. Yes they do have some higher quality items (cakes, clothes, meat), but I find that if you look Sams prices are better and they have some ridiculously good bargains (that are not advertised).

I got a US Sams membership and use both.

We drive past Sam's to get to Costco's. We like the selection they have. Their cakes are a must, when you need a big one.

Thanks guys I was going to ask about this because we just got a Sam's in Cambridge Canada. I was in there just to check it out and nothing really appealed to me. I found that Costco was better and there cakes :rotfl:
are the best. I'm getting one this May for my son's 1st communion.

I had both memberships last year and we only used our Sam's card once so I didn't renew however, I did renew the Costco. I like Costco alot better-their deli and meat department are superb!
