I have used Cruise Value Center for both of our cruises, also called Dreams Unlimited, AAA and Disney. I saved more than $1000 both times, from the Disney price.
My friend also saved almost $900 off of Disney price going through Costco for a Cat. 5 stateroom on a 7-day Eastern. She did say that it is very difficult to reach them by phone and has not had much luck contacting them since she made her reservation. I made my 7-day Eastern (cat. 6) res. through BJ's and saved $500 off of Disney price. I have no problems reaching them at all and they are Great! (My reservationist is also named Belle- good Disney karma right?!)
Back in March, I wish the agent I spoke to would have held my reservation. I was in the car driving and wanted to call back with my credit card and she said she could not hold the res. At that time, Costco beat DU by $200. Called back a few days later and price had gone up $250. Ended up booking with DU for 1/2/05.
I booked yesterday with Costco. They were $1,000 cheeper than DCL. I had checked around a lot and even had the rate costco had given me a couple weeks ago. called yesterday talked to one guy and told him i wanted to book when he said how can i help you. Then he said the cat i wanted was sold out. so he gave me the rate of a higher cat. I told him i'd think about it and call back and book, maybe for my sons birthay date instead of the date i wanted as they would have been the same price then. Maybe he thought i would fall for it and book the higher cat. I hung up thought about it for a while called back asked for a quote on the date that i had wanted and he gave me the first low price that i had wanted, go figurebut he was great to deal with. and they are sending my papers cant wait.
Now i just have to figure out the travel ins. rat race.
We booked through Costco last November and saved over 300 on a three day cruise. I called back Disney and asked if it was legit and they said yes. We had a great time and I would have used them again but we rebooked our next cruise onboard and saved a good penny for the last 8/28 cruise. Disney forgot to tell me it was a ten day not a 7 day. Oh well. Use Costco but check to make sure allears, AAA, orbitz and travelocity don't have a better deal.
I booked with them for this past cruise 8/21! I booked back in Oct. 03 and saved about $1000.00. AND when I boarded the ship I was upgraded to an outside cabin, I had paid for an inside! So we were very happy!
I have to call them next week, I'm thinking about combining and 3 & 4 day cruise back to back! Because I don't want to fly out to the west coast.
We had no problem transferring our reservation for a Cat. 3 suite from DCL to Costco two years ago. I don't know if anything has changed with DCL since then, but I would call Costco and ask-they would know.
Just a follow-up to my savings on CostCo. When I called to make my final payment the other day, the amount owed was $50 less than my statement. No reason given, but I have a guess. Based on another thread on this board, I called 2 weeks ago about getting the $50 onboard credit for first-time cruisers. They contacted DCL and DCL would not honor it since I didn't ask for it at the time of initial booking. CostCo apologized that they didn't know it was still an active offer. So, I believe they discounted my cruise $50 to make up for the mistake. Excellent Service!
As to the 81 day rule, this is so that CostCo Travel can process your payment and have it submitted prior to the 60 day DCL limit. Remember, a TA doesn't actually "own" the product they are selling you, they are just acting as an agent on your behalf with the cruise line. So, they still have to turn around and pay the cruise line for the room which they have booked.
I just got a quote from them and they way beat Dreams Unlimited, Allseas, Disney (duh) and a few other places. I think it beat the others by at least $300. I would have never known that my membership would come in so handy.... at least not when I leave there each time mad at myself for having a membership there that allows me to go in there~ and SPEND all my money!
