For those of you that have had the Costco sandwich tray in the past...I need your advice!

I've ordered the Costco sandwich tray before and L-O-V-E it! And I'm having a birthday party for my DD in two weeks and there will be 13 adults and 5 kids (aged 1.5 to 5, not counting DD - age 1- as I'll feed her something else). Already confirmed the kids will eat the sandwiches, they aren't the picky sort.

In addition to the sandwich tray I'm making baked mac and cheese and having chips and potato salad as sides. ETA: Also offering garden salad too, almost forgot! Also a good number of appitizers, chips/salsa, potato chips/dip, veggie tray, olive tray.

And of course, cake for desert.

My question is, given all the other food I'm serving, is one sandwich tray enough, or should I buy a 2nd one? Techically the tray is for 30, but that's based on 10 over-sized croisonts beint cut into 1/3's, and last time I found people would eat at least 2. So I'm doing a special order and having them cut it into 1/2, so 20 larger sandwiches vs. 30 smaller ones.

I think two trays is way too much, but I'm worried that one isn't quite enough and I'd rather have way to much than not quite enough. I'm torn on what to do? (and no I can't order a half tray, I already asked).

Opinions?

I would get 2, if you have a lot leftover you can always send some home with families as they leave, or take them to work so they don't go to waste. :)

I think it sounds like you have enough food with one tray. Those sandwiches lose their lustre on day two, imho. If you're really worried, add a fruit salad. Then-there's cake and ice cream, right? One sandwich should be enough.

Forgot to include...also serving garden salad as well with the sandwiches. I edited my original post too.

I'd rather have too much than not enough, so I'd go for the second tray.

Hi,
it sounds like 1 tray will work, especially if you are cutting them kid-friendly. I have noticed that if you put out two trays, kids will grab a hand full and most of the time will mess over stuff. I always tell kids to grab 1 and if they are hungry then come back. With the amount of mac n cheese and chips and dips that you have a small sandwich sounds good to me. You are doing cake and ice cream as well.

As the previous poster replied, those sandwiches do not keep after the first day.

Lot's of good advice already. I also think 1 tray should be enough, but I always prefer to have too much instead of not enough.

So my suggestion would be to check if your Costco carries the small size turkey roll up tray in the take out deli area. That would be a good addition to your sandwiches, you don't have to pre-order it and in my experience the left overs have always been good for a few days.

I'd do one. You have heavier sides with the macaroni and potato salad in addition to everything else.

I think one will be enough. I think 2 will be tooooo many! You will wind up with a lot leftover. Sandwiches do not keep well, so it will probably go in the garbage.

I would have them cut into the thirds...so you'll have 30 pieces. Kids probably won't eat more than 1, so the smaller the better.

If you are really worried, I would buy a tray of plain croissants. You could make or buy an egg salad, tuna, chicken or shrimp salad. this way if you have leftovers you could freeze the croissants and eat the left over salad the next day. (or toss it, but it would be cheaper than throwing out a tray of sandwiches!)

You need two trays. You have 18 people and 20 sandwiches. Certainly more than 2 people will want a second sandwich, regardless of the number of side dishes and appetizers. Some people prefer to have 2 sandwiches and fewer or no sides, and others will want 1 sandwich and lots of different sides.

I would get 2 sandwich trays or 1 sandwich tray and a deli platter (or I'd get a bunch of cold cuts and make my own deli platter)

I would have them cut into the 30 and I would maybe make some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kids. They may not be picky but probably will go for pb & j over the others which would leave those for the adults.
