I have an older dog who is blind. She's a money pit but we love her and will do whatever we can to take care of her. We have a great vet who is aware that our finances are tight and works with us as much as possible.

Yesterday I took her in because one of her eyes looked odd. She needed two different types of eye drops (one eye's pressure is too high and the other is basically shriveling up:( )and when I asked the vet where to get the Rx filled she recommended Costco (I'm a member but I'm not sure you have to be to get a perscription filled but it saves you a little).

I checked 1-800-Petmeds (sometimes their prices run high) and the two eyedrops ran $115 total. When I went to pick them up at Costco today the total was $36.

I'm sure it's similar with people medicine. I'm on an HSA but rarely take anything but I know where I'll get my perscriptions filled in the future.

Thanks for sharing!! We had a dog with his own pill box for years...all our pets now have insurance and are young so knock on wood good,

Our vet referred us to Roadrunner Online Pet Pharmacy out of Phoenix. Much cheaper than Costco, and even Walmart.

Watch Costco. I used to get my prescriptions filled there until they put the wrong dosage in the bottle. When I questioned it, they didn't seem to think it was a problem and told me I was wrong (it was a pill I had been taking for years, I knew what it looked like!). It happened again the following month and I stopped going there. The savings over the lack of the correct medication wasn't worth it.

My dog will be on prednisone for the rest of her life. I get her medicine at Target . I use my AAA discount and since I have my dog registered with the Pharmacy Rewards Program, she is also earning me credits toward a 5% certificate.

CVS and RiteAid and Walgreen's have done the same to me with no apology. Everybody makes mistakes - even pharmacists - so look at your pills and know what you are supposed to be getting. It may save your life.

Had the same experience with costco You can save even more if you get one of those online prescription saving cards - google around the one I got was free, but it saved me $12 per month on my dog's bp meds which we got at costco along with the eye drops

My dog is on medication for her kidneys and thru the vet it was $30 a month. Went to Costco and got three months supply for $7! It was $10 but then the pharmacist recommended I fill out a RX card they offer and got the additional $3 off. This isn't the first time Costco Pharmacy has saved us money. I also find their pharmacists the most helpful and informed. My Mom just switched over to them too.

Question does Costco do pet heart worm and flea tick scripts????!??

I'm not sure. I know they sell Frontline Plus because that's where I bought it last but you don't need a script for that. I still buy Heartgard from 1800 Pet Meds because it's about $15 cheaper than buying it from my vet.

The woman who checked me out did fill out a form for me to get the additional discount. All in all a great experience.

Our dog was put on keppa for seizure control, the vet recommended Costco before it even opened here. It is $39, the next closest price is over $100 for the same dosage/quantity.

On the flip side, her phenobarbital is $43 at Costco, and $21 at Kroger. Kroger is fine since we get some gas points out of it and they are much closer than Costco.

My smaller dog is on the lowest dose of phenobarbital (thinking 2.5MG) and we only pay about $7 per month (60 tablets) at Walmart. I'm not sure what your dosage is -- but wanted to let you know it might be worthwhile to check with Walmart too!
