Can you transfer a reservation from RCI to Costco and then get the OBC? RCI is giving a significantly better price on a cruise we're considering, but I like Costco. Any experience?

Costco should have the same price.

the RCI website was messing up the quoting. called and they said it happens frequently. It was changing dates when continuing to the next page which then obviously changed the price. fortunately I reviewed my reservation before finishing the booking.

Costco should have the same price.

Actually redid the quotes, for some reason Costco comes in around $100 higher than going through RCI directly. There is a "Cruise Discount" line that is $53 dollars on Costco, but over $100 on RCI. no explanation for what it is or why it might be different.

Is it because of Taxes? I also agree that the RCCL website will put in the wrong date for you on the second page. You have to make sure to select the right date in the drop down. I just booked a RCCL cruise through Costco and had the same problem until I realized it was doing the wrong dates. After I realized that was wrong they came up the same. I also had issues because I thought that a room I wanted was available but it turns out that it wasn't because I was on the wrong date.

Nope, taxes were correct, it's a discount line that shows a different discount on the different sites, RC shows a higher discount, but neither explains what the discount is or why we qualify for it. I did find that you can transfer a reservation though, so I'll simply make it for the price I want, then transfer it to Costco and get the obc I want.

I believe you have 30 days after booking to transfer it.

Royal Caribbean gives you 60 days to transfer it from the date of creation provided you are still outside of the final payment period and the reservation is not paid in full. There is some other fine print such as currency changes but 60 days is the basic transfer period.

How do you transfer a reservation? I'm used to the DCL process and have previously either booked directly on board or the first time was through a travel agent.

We are planning on a spring break cruise with RCL and I think it would be easier for me to book online today then transfer to Costco for the cash card.

Will I still be able to reserve excursions etc. online if I do that?

Thanks!

To transfer, call Costco Travel. You will need to fill out an authorization to transfer and fax it in. Then follow up in about a week by calling Costco and having the reservation pulled into their system (kinda a pain but worth the OBC)

Once Costco has the reservation you can still book excursions, speciality dining, etc. online through the RCCL website. However you have to call them to update names, change your dining type (Traditional, late or My Time), make payments etc (although you can make payments online through Costco travel)
