I have been checking everyone's sites every day hoping for a price break. I don't have Disney Visa, do have an ap, AAA, and Costco. All have been pretty similar so I had a reservation for hotel only with ap.

Just found that Costco has a "half marathon" special which wasn't available this morning. I was able to get a much better price on a package (my family all need hoppers--I'm the only one with an ap) than what I've been able to put together on my own. Switched us from DLH resort view to GCH premium view and saved $100 over my current ap rate with a character meal and $20 gift card thrown in.

Edited to add: we're going October 13-15, not during the half marathon so I'm not sure what the valid dates are for the promo

Wow, that is great. I've booked with a PIN code for our trip but for the fun of it I just plugged in my info and it came up $310 cheaper than what I was looking at without the PIN code. It still is $160 more than my PIN code package (the meal and gift cards for our group wouldnt total quite that), but will be great for others. Nice of you to let others know!

when are you going? are you going during the marathon or is there a booking time limit?

I can't find it :sad1: Maybe it is only available in certain areas? On a bright note, I did find a pack of 2 unlimited ride wristbands for Belmont Park in San Diego for the second half of our trip :) Now just need to make sure they will be vaild next year when we go...

I just looked into this deal. I'm not sure if it will work. Here is my situation. We are going to DL twice this holiday season.

Nov. 18-21. Haven't booked hotel yet but want to stay at GCH. Kids and I have AP's and DH already has a 3 day parkhopper that I purchased before prices went up.

Dec. 21-26. Staying at DLH. We got a senior rate because we're going with the grandparents. Our AP's won't be good because of blockout dates, except for my son, who has a premium AP.

If I book the costco deal, can I get the parkhoppers and use them in December?

Can the premium character meal voucher be used for a regular character meal?

Is the $20 GC per person, or one per party?

Thanks!

disneymom -- when we had the costco package last year you could use your character meal voucher at any of the character meals, it just had a max value of whatever it is and if it is less you don't get any money back or anything so you loss it.

The $20 gift card is one per package, not per person unfortunately.

As for your parkhoppers, ours had an expiration date but it was like months later, I can't remember how far in advance but it was much later. But once you use it you have to use it all within the 14 days or whatever it is. You should double check on this when you call Costco.

As for your Dec. dates, do you have a disney visa? maybe you should check out what the rates would be under that for your time frame. Granted though you wouldn't be able to use it for the night of the 25th, but the 21-checkout on the 25th you could. Might be a better deal.

Oh, sorry. We're going October 13-15. I don't really know about the time limit--I just put in our dates and the "half Marathon special" came up.

I went to the Costco website and went to travel, then under destination clicked the 'Theme Park' option, then clicked on the Disneyland vacations box. It still says it is the current promo that ends Oct 1 or something, but if you click 'Book' and put in your dates, you'll get a price quote that hopefully includes the new promo.

Ditto! Don't pay attention to the "listed" promo, just get to the booking Disney screen. We are travelling in Oct too.

Thank you for posting!!! I saved $200 over the AAA rate plus a character meal which could easily be another $100 for our family of 5. I already bought airfare but don't have a Disney Visa and was worried about the hotel and category I wanted being available if I waited too much longer! I feel like we got a good deal no matter what Disney releases to the public. Thanks so much! We're going to Disney Land:yay:

Hey, exactly the same situation with me!! I got a pin code for a fabulous rate...which started the day we were leaving!! I already had airfare and Disney wouldn't extend the pin code to my dates so I was stuck with a rate almost double what the code would have given me :headache:. I went ahead and held a room at DLH at the AP rate, which was still high, but when this code came out I jumped on it. It's nice to have it all taken care of so I can stop obsessing!!! (yeah, right :rolleyes1)

They also added in the Halloween party tickets so I don't have to buy those separately. No cost break, just a convenience.

I've already got my reservation booked through AAA and so I thought I'd check and see if they had a similar offer to the Costco offer and sure enough I plugged in my dates and so forth and there was the AAA "Half Marathon" offer that was substantially cheaper than what I had already booked, so I emailed my travel agent (haven't heard back yet) to see if she could update my reservation. When I looked just now however I found that AAA was no longer showing a "Half Marathon" offer, just the usual "Magic Moments Savings" offer that I'd already booked. Costco still shows it though so if you want it you'd better get it fast I guess.

It's interesting I went to Costco and put in my dates from Nov 27-Dec 2 and it said "Not Available" but when I plugged in Nov 28 - Dec 2 I got the deal!

Same keeps happening to me.. No availability for certain dates but if I just slightly alter them, I get the deal.

I got the deal too when I changed my dates, when I checked the same dates at disneyland.com they were available on those unavailable dates at the costco site.

I'm starting to get so confused :(

kailuagirl, I would try calling them directly. The number is 877-849-2730. Things seem to be kind of wonky lately with rates!!

One thing I did notice was that the Costco site would not let me book DLH for my dates. We were planning to stay there and I know there is availability elsewhere but I didn't mind switching to GCH so I didn't look into it.

Have you tried AAA?

Not to threadjack, but does anyone have any opinions about the Good Neighbor hotels that are offered on sale right now through Costco?

The list seems pretty limited.

Aaargh. Earlier today I checked some dates (11/28 through 12/2) for GCH and got a total around $2300 showing "Half Marathon". I just ran some other dates, and wasn't getting the promo, which seemed odd, so I switched back to the original dates, and am still not getting the promo. $2800+ now.

Might be operator error, but they might have also fixed the code that was allowing Costco folks to book with a discount too far in the future... the web site says travel needs to be completed by 10/2.

On a somewhat unrelated note, has anyone had good or bad experiences exchanging Character Meal vouchers for food at sit down or counter restaurants at DL? The Costco promo seems to provide two character meal vouchers per person, according to the small print, and given how we like to be in the park early, and late, and take a break in the midday, and don't really like buffets, I could see possibly using these for in park dining instead, if the process is easy, and they just take the $$ value off the bill.

Well, I played around with it a bit, and if I choose soon, like 9/16 through 9/20, I get a great rate ($2200) and "Summer/Fall Free Character Meal Offer" is displayed. If I move it towards the end of September, I get the same offer, but the rate creeps up, probably due to being over a weekend. If I try any set of four nights in October, "Summer/Fall Free Character Meal Offer" never shows up and the rate is full fare about $2800.
