Costco Discount - Budget Car Rental

I was not asked for my membership card when picking up the vehicle. However, in order to book through the costco website, you have to sign on with your membership number.

The terminal that the Rental Agent is looking at pops up a message asking them if they checked your membership card. They have to "reply" in the affirmative for the discount to go through. Like all things, some will ignore it and continue on, and others will follow policy...

If you use the Costco codes on the regular Budget.com site, you never have to write in your Costco Card Membership number to reserve the car.

Alamo, PHX, asked to see my COSTCO card and swiped it in order to capture my membership number. I asked what would have happened if I didn't have my card. They said they would have had to call to verify my membership.

I don't understand why some people, not necessarily anyone in this thread, see the need to claim discounts they're not entitled to use.

My I see you COSTCO card? (or AAA or AARP). You didn't bring your card? I'll call and verify you membership. It will only take a few minutes.

A poster already said the terminal agent is suppose to check your card. Why make a reservation hoping the agent won't be following policy?

Then don't overthink this; bring the Costco card with you.

+1

That's why I said my point didn't necessarily apply to anyone in this thread. A poster said you can use the COSTCO rate without needing your membership number directly on Budget's site. You're making a reservation at home. Is it that hard to get your card out of you wallet and type thew number? Maybe if you're not a member. Again the poster might be a member but many of these threads include posters who want to take advantage of discounts which they aren't entitled to use.

Before I go on a trip I "prune" my wallet. No reason bringing my library card, supermarket rewards cards, many credit cards etc. Is there a COSTCO near my destination. I bring it "just in case".

Can you tell me where to find the costco number - I do have a membership. Thanks

It should be on your Costco American Express card and on any of your receipts.

In Orange County last month they never asked for my Costco card.

So are you referring to the membership number ?? I was thinking it was a special membership number or coupon code ?? Thanks - and if so where does the number go?

Go to costcotravel website. The system will add the appropriate codes. Otherwise pick up the trav brochure in the warehouse. The contract codes and coupon codes are there
