Costco Cruise Price Include Insurance?

Hi - We're planning our first cruise and it is so overwhelming! I just priced it through Disney directly and then with Costco. The Costco price was quite a bit higher. Does anyone know if the Costco quotes automatically include insurance? I know that it wasn't included in the Disney quote. TIA!

Unless you have something that says it was, quote sheet or done online. It normally doesn't. Just need to make sure price difference amount as well.

Everyone's definition of "quite a bit higher" is going to be different. Trip insurance is going to be in the couple-hundreds area depending on how much you are spending. Is that the difference?

That said, I haven't experienced insurance being included with Costco; rather, they give you a website/phone number to buy the insurance after you've booked. So I would look really carefully to make sure everything is the same, from date to number of people and ages, to ship, etc. Because my total guess is that something is different between the two.

I booked our upcoming Disney cruise through Costco last year and it was the exact same price as quoted on DCL's website at the time. Same exact sailing and stateroom category and even specific room number. Costco gives a cash card back though once your sailing is completed.

Did you go all the way through and picked a room at Costco Travel? Out of curiosity, I priced a cruise with DCL and Costco Travel right now. DCL pre-selected a room for me by default and gave me a price. Costco Travel was initially $400 more, but did not pre-select a room for me. After I picked a room, the price dropped down to match DCL's price exactly. If you didn't go through with picking a room at Costco Travel, that may be where your price discrepancy is.

I think this came up before awhile back and when I tested it, it was because people weren't logged into the site. I'm not sure it's still doing that but make sure you've actually logged in with your Costco number and gone all the way to the end and picked a category or cabin like another poster mentioned.

I don't think I've ever booked online with Costco but I have booked 11 cruises with them. In my cases I was converting a "dummy or placeholder cruise" to a real one which involved calling them, however insurance has never been automatically added in my experience of following them the past 4 years.

me too. but like the op i have recently priced cruises on DCL through Costco and they ARE higher! By a couple hundred dollars, so if you factor the cash card you could still be getting a better deal than DCL direct. But I had to check and double check to make sure I was seeing right.

This is exactly what it is ^^ I couldn't remember if it was the logging in part or just as @Ravenne explained. I also did it both ways (not logging in and logging in). I priced out a 4/2017 cruise and got to the end where you choose a cabin. Before I picked an actual cabin in their drop down it was $3109.56. I then picked a cabin and it dropped to $2813.28 - which is *exactly* what DCL is. I know Costco (and others) are not higher but I remember this "quirk" happened several months ago and was reported here. When I wasn't logged in and chose a cabin number it didn't show the new price until it took me to the log in page and I hit the back button and then the new price was displayed on my prior page. When I was already logged in and then chose the cabin number the new lower/correct price immediately showed on the page.

Thanks! I will try it again. I chose a specific room, but didn't log in. I will have to go back and try it once I enter my member number. It was roughly $500 higher than DCL when I first priced it. $400 costco card is a great deal. Hopefully, the price will correct itself once I enter all of my info.

Its been like this for months. If you call costco they will call Dcl and match the price. I brought it to their attention back in nov and it still hasnt been fixed.

I don't know of anyone that automatically includes insurance in their pricing but I do love Costco! Haven't yet used them for booking my DCL cruises but I surely would use them. And I've used Costco Travel many times for car rental for our trips to Hawaii. Hope you get the price match with Costco that others have mentioned you should be able to do. Happy planning!
