Anybody remember when Costco was a great place to buy new release DVDs? Not anymore. Just saw Batman was $20.79, while Best Buy was $14.99, I believe.

We used to buy a lot of our DVDs and videogames there, but the prices have gone up, and the selection has gone waaaaay down. I don't bother even looking there anymore for those, or books either. :(

That was the deluxe 2 disc version of Batman at Costco for $20.79.

The one at Best Buy at $14.99 is the regular 1 disc version. Best Buy wants $22.99 for the deluxe version. :rolleyes1

Costco may not beat the sale prices of other chains, but their regular price after the first week sales is always lower.

If you're going to knock them at least get it right.

Thanks for setting me straight! :rolleyes1

Everybody here who has known me for a while know I LOVE Costco. My point stands, though. They have raised new release prices to the point that I don't buy there anymore. Most are $18.79.

Trying to help people who want the correct information, get a grip.

Every other store will have them for $19.99 or more. Point being, if you miss the first week sales, want the disc now, and want it cheaper, go to Costco or Sams.

The selection has gone down. It's odd considering the amount of customers always in those sections. Look for it to go up in the next two months. Last year they even had special displays in other parts of he warehouse. I expect to see them for Star Wars, Polar Express, and Willy Wonka.

Yeah, I can see them doing that too. As much as I hate Walmart though, they're selling Ep. III for about $3 cheaper than Costco (at least according to both websites).

I do love shopping at Costco overall though, especially for food products. Just wish they'd bulk up on the other things, but I'd imagine it's tough. Walmart kinda sucks up the business from everywhere else.

We don't have a Costco, but we do have a BJ's. They have great price on new release!

I don't have anything to add to this thread -- but I just wanted to throw in my very own :rolleyes1

Thank-you, now I feel as though I am part of the crowd. :goodvibes

Yes, during release week Wal-Mart will likley have it around 14.99 while Costco will have it for 17-19. Difference being the second week when Wat-Mart jacks it up to 22.99.

I'm getting Ep.III at Wal-Mart. They'll have a exclusive extra bonus disc along with the movie. I just hope I can get there while they still have some widescreen copies left.

A lot of the Costco DVDs have a little something with them most of the time. ie a T shirt or something similar. Overall, nobody will ever be able to touch Costco prices. Some of the deals they offer are unbelievable. :cool1:

Agreed. Robots comes with a T-Shirt (child size large) and Cinderella comes with a book.

Best deal out there right now is the new Hitchcock Box Set. Fourteen movies for a tad over $5 a movie ($75.99).

A close runner up is different Paramount TV sets (Cheers, Frasier, Mork, Happy Days, and more) for only $13 each.

I've been going there for less that a year, so I don't remember any "great" prices. I just bought Cinderella. It was only abt $1 less than other stores and the video only. I thought it would come with a book at least.
