Is Costa Maya similar to Cozumel? Ive been to Cozumel twice. DH wasnt thrilled with it when we were there in 03.
What is there to do on Costa Maya?

thanks Andy
I know I'll be getting off the ship - this will be my 1st time there
Looks nice

We stopped there last October and had a lot of fun. We did a sea kayaking with beach lunch excursion and would do it again in a heart beat. The kayaks were clear, which meant you could see the coral and fish below you as you moved through the water. At the end, they had an all you can eat Lobster taco buffet. The food was all of homemade quality - absolutely fantastic. I'm still getting serious cravings for those tacos today.

I was less enamored of the port area itself. The shops were pretty typical tourist traps.

Our trip there was one of the first times the Magic had stopped there, and we actually cried as we watched them bring the characters to the local school and interact with the kids. It was amazing.

What did most of the excursions run in Costa Maya. They have no prices on their website, as they are booked directly through the cruise lines.

Thanks,

Costa Maya and Cozumel are very different. We did the DCL excursion to the ruins a Chocoben (sp) and really enjoyed it. we got to see the countryside--good and bad as this is a very poor area. The ruins are amazing--our guide was super.

We visited Costa Maya last October with DCL (re-routed there due to hurricane's impact on Grand Cayman.) We organized our own trip to the ruins at Chacchoban and if you are interested in that, it is included in "part 3" of my trip report at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=679797 - it is about 1/2 way through the page - look for "Tuesday". There are some photos there also of both the ruins and the port as seen from ship.

Hope this helps,

pdarrah
