Cost to rent or transfer points?

Does Disney charge some kind of administrative fee for transfering points from one member to another?

How about if you rent out your points, whether or not to another DVC member?

Planning a cruise in 2011 and was thinking about renting out my points for 2010 and 2011 in order to pay cash for it. Otherwise, it'll cost me my points earned in 2010, 2011, and 2012 (3 years!) to go on the cruise.

I have not transferred points or received transferred points so I am not sure of the answer to that one. I do know it can be a tricky process because of the financial aspect of it.

I have rented points a few times and Disney does not charge a fee to complete the transaction. I can tell you it is a time consuming process but can be very beneficial to both the renter and the rentee if handled properly.

no, there is no charge by DVC.

however, be aware that technically, no compensation is allowed for transfers and DVC sometimes frowns on renting as well (even though occasional renting is definitely allowed), so be cautious with what you say to MS...

and if you have issues with the other party whether you transfer pts or rent a reservation, you are pretty much on your own. don't expect DVC to get involved.
