Cost of maintenance fees & dues

My DH and I are starting to talk about adding another contract and saw a comment about the cost of the maintenance fees and dues at the various resorts. This could be a small selling point of one resort over another so is there anyway to find out what the current dues are at the various resorts?

Bay Lake Tower , from what our rep told us, has the cheapest dues at this time.

BLT dues, at least for now, are quite a deal. Just remember it takes a lot more points to stay there, especially compared to OKW or BWV SV. You might want to consider BLT and using BLT points to stay at other resorts if your vacations allow you to book at 7 month window.

Of course, since there is virtually no BLT resales out there yet, BLT points cost quite a bit more than other resorts on resale.

Thanks everyone. We were leaning, and still are, towards AKV because honestly BLT doesn't hold much appeal to us. Not thrilled that the dues are so much more. We aren't planning on adding on right now so maybe after we see the BLT models we'll warm up to it.

Well, you got to look at it this way.
Are you someone that spends alot of time in-room? Or is it just a place to sleep?
That's what we asked ourselves (we were also leaning towards AKV), but we decided convenience over luxury. because we're hardly ever in the room and it's walking distance to MK and a monorail jump to Epcot.

No and sorta. Where we stay is part of the overall experience for us even though we aren't in it that much or even in the resort that much. As the kids get older we might be spending more time at the resort and in the resort pool so we might have to take that into consideration too. I think I'm thinking about the add-on more than I did when we initially purchased.

Said it before and I'll say it again - I think this is a really important consideration that not everyone looks at:

As the kids get older we might be spending more time at the resort and in the resort pool so we might have to take that into consideration too.

How will you be vacationing, not only the next few years when the kids are little and e.g. Love MK, but how will you vacation in 10 years, when the kids are gone and off to college, etc....

This is one of the reasons we bought SSR. It has plenty of "kids" stuff, but is also more of an "adult" resort, with all the golf, DTD, etc. Others will think a different resort will fit better. I just think it's important to look at how you'll use DVC not just in the short term, but in the long term!

Very true and that was the reason we chose BWV. Now that our grand kids are teens they can walk to HS or Epcot by them selves. They love the independence and the adults love the Board Walk activities, ESPN Club and pool area. It meets all of our needs.
