Hi -- we will be heading to the park after Christmas and I was wondering the price range of the Harry Potter stuff.

When we went to the Harry Potter exhibit at the museum the prices were outrageous! I don't think there was a piece of jewlery under $50.

I assume there will be a wide range, but I am hoping we can find some fun items in the $10 range.

Can you please post what you got and how much it cost? Thx!

I agree that those museum prices were absurd!

The merchandise at IOA was still pretty pricey, but comparable to similar items bought at the Orlando theme parks.

One inexpensive sounvenir is to get the postcards ($1 each) and have them stamped with the Hogsmeade stamp. Most of the pins and key chains were under $10. There were also a number of little trinkets at Zonko's for under $10. DD7 got a screaming yo-yo for $9.95. Lots of things at Honeydukes for under $10. The t-shirts, hats and stuffed animals were well over that price, but about what you would expect.

Don't forget, if you have a AAA card, bring it with you. You get 10% off of all your merchandise/ treats which saves most of the tax and made me feel a little better about all of the $ I was spending.

The prices really depend on what you want to purchase. Pins, keychains, lanyards, some of the candy ect is under $10. Clothing can run anwhere from $20-$100.

To get the best idea check out: http://www.universalorlando.com/Merchandise/merchandisehome.aspx
And go through the Potter section. The prices online match up to what is charged in the stores at the park. There is however a much larger selection of things at the park then there is on the website. Personally I have spent more than $2k on merch on my two trips, but some of things they are offering are things that can't be found for Potter fans anywhere else.

I agree with the previous poster about Honeydukes. They have nice candy jars filled with a variety of candies for about $10.

My daughter bought a set of 4 plastic glasses with various Hogwarts House crests on them for about $12.

I bought the neighbor girl a Time Turner. I think it was about $12.

I bought a mug for work based on the Maruaders Map. It was $16.

The Marauder's Map itself was $49. :scared1: No clue why a piece of paper cost so much. It was too crowded to ask.

Wands were about $28.

Quidditch brooms were about $35.

The Owlry does have postcards they will postmark for you. You might want to bring your own stamps if you are going to mail them. They charge something like $15.95 for ten 44 cents stamps "because they are collectible".

Set a budget and stick to it. You will be able to find some nice things.

$2,000 in merchandise during two trips? The robes were the most expensive item I saw at $99. Perhaps I overlooked some of the really nice merchandise. The shops were VERY crowded the day I was there. It was hard look around and next to impossible to see anything in the display cases. What the most special piece you found?

The Marauder's Map is a Nobel Collection piece, and extremely sought after artwork for Potter collectors. Hence the price tag. I've seen some of the more fancier framed versions with detail plating sold for as high $200+. I was quite happy to find the framed Map at WWoHP for $50 as online through Nobel with Map, frame, shipping ect it runs upwards of $75.

It wasn't so much "designer pieces" I purchased, it was the amount of things I purchase that added up, I had to ship things home as there was no way they were getting on the plane.

I did buy 2 robes, pretty much a new wardrobe in all the shirts, shorts, hoodies, pajama pants ect. I did get the Maurader's Map, mugs, steins, wands, snitches, quaffles, scarves, blankets, pillows, all the stuffies, snowglobes. I have been collecting Potter things since the first book, there is a whole room in my house dedicated to it so I knew going in I was going to spend some cash. Im heading back in Feb to spend more. It's a sickness I tell you.:rotfl:

ETA-oh an I bought a Firebolt Quidditch broom. That puppy was $350 by itself.

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad the prices are "reasonable" compared to the museum show. That was so disappointing.

Now I have another problem -- after looking at the shopping link I think we might get caught in the shops making decisions and never make it onto the rides!

My daughter is going to think she died and went to heaven :cloud9:

Then remember that most of the HP merchandise, including wands, are for sale in the roomy mech store at the very front of the park (on the left as you walk in). Let her do her initial browsing there and get it out of her system so you can hit the park and focus on sightseeing and the rides. There are cool things in the shops that make them little attractions in and of themselves, but actually shopping in them is beastly!

Good point! I've read it's hard to move around the park holding on to all that stuff.

Does Universal allow you to send your items up front for a later pickup?

in addition to what others have mentioned...

on average the t-shirts are 24.95-29.99

scarves are $29.95-$34

if you're looking for lower priced items there is a great set of house tumblers that is $12

All I know is my dd's had about $200 worth of merchandise each for me to buy them in mere minutes. T's, scarves, hats, wands.
Most expensive park day-ever!
Universal has to be making a killing on HP...

I was in line at Dervish and Banges and a woman with a lot of merchandise was admiring a silver goblet of fire that was on display behind the counter. Turns out it was for sale and the woman bought it. I wish I could remember the price - I'm pretty sure it was several hundred dollars at least.:scared1:

Sorry to slightly hijack the thread but this seems a good place to post it:

Is there anywhere on the net to see the items not listed on the Universal merchandice site? Say a fan site maybe?

I'm probably only going to buy two things, a wand and a high end item like the mentioned goblet of fire or a full sized broom if they sell them...

I haven't seen a list anywhere of all the merch offered and I'ma regular on pretty much all the major Potter fansites. I can say though between my two trips I noticed new stuff from one trip to the next. I spent a lot of time shopping but I still don't think I saw everything offered. It really is a Potter fan shopping heaven.

They do offer full size brooms and they ship them home for you. I bought the Firebolt. With taxes, shipping fees and using a AAA discount I paid roughly $400 for it. The two brooms they had for sale when I were there(and they told me the sell out quick once they get them in stock) were the Nimbus 2000 and the Firebolt, they also carry the Cleansweep but that was sold out at the time. From what I could tell they range in price just as they would in the real Dervish and Banges with the Cleansweep being the cheapest and the Firebolt being the most expensive.

I don't know if you have girls but I think the most popular thing we brought back was the pygmy puffs. They cost $15 and I think every single one of my daughter's friends have begged their parents to go online and buy them one.
