How much is the cost fo the Dinning Plan for Adults and Kids. I think Adults are $37.99 but can't find the kids price.

Kids are $10.99/night. Adults will go up to $38.99/night in 2007, no change for kids.

Disney calls anyone over 9 an adult. So your kids may not be kids to Disney.

Just curious...can a family still purchase the dining plan even if they are DVC members?

Anyone staying on points (member or renter or guest) may purchase the Dining Plan. There is no requirement to purchase tickets and no minimum stay required. You must purchase the DP for every night of your stay for every person on the reservation. The DP must be added through MS (By the owner if you are a renter or guest) and is paid for at check in.

Price for 2006 is $37.99 per person per night for those 10 and older. It is $10.99 per person per night for those ages 3 -9.

Best wishes -

Thanks for the DDP info. So... as a renter:
I call the person I rented points from and who set up my ressie and have them set the DDP up for the 5 nights I'm there. It's that simple????

My questions then are:
What if I would want to cancel it before I arrive or when I first arrive to check in? Can I do it or do I need the renter to do it in either senario?
I will be at the Contemporary the two days prior to the BWV. Do I have to buy those days too or just the 5 at the BWV? Can I add buy the CR days if I want to?
What confirmation will I get? Will it be sent to me or the renter? For Dec 8 arrival when should I do all this?
Boy, reading this post back to myself I sure seem dumb. Sorry and thanks for any replies.

As to your first question, MS once told me you can cancel at check in, but another time I was told no, it must be cancelled through MS prior to arrival. So maybe someone else can answer this.

You can get DDP for your 2 nights at CR but unless your reservations can somehow be linked (I don't believe they can) you will have to purchase DDP for those 2 nights, then you start over again when you check in to BWV. I don't think you can carry over unused credits.

You will get no confirmation whatsoever from DVC that you have DDP. That drives me crazy. Not one of my reservations has any notation on it. You will have to trust the owner you are renting from on this.

Except for DME tags which come to you from Disney, DVC will not send anything to you, it will all go to your owner.

If you are going in Dec, DDP can be added any time prior to arrival.

I hope someone else can fill in some of the blanks here. Have fun! :goodvibes

In the DDP thread it says the following two things

Can I still get my AP or other discounts?
As of today, you must pay rack rate for the room and puchase at least a one day base ticket for each member of your party, unless you book your entire package with AAA.

Can I get the dining plan if I am a DVC owner?
As of April 1, 2006 DVC owners & renters will be able to purchase the dining plan. DVC owners are not required to purchase tickets with the dining plan

I am planning on buying an Annual Pass Must I buy a one day pass also?

I am not the owner. I am a renter

Yes, it's that simple.

Only the owner can call MS to request that the DP be added or cancelled. It has been reported here that someone was able to decrease the number of people for the DP (one of their party cancelled on them), but to the best of my recollection, no one has reported that they were able to cancel it entirely. MS has told us different lead times - my advice is not to order the plan if you think you will cancel it. If you have to cancel it, give the owner at least 3 business days notice to avoid problems at check in.

Did you arrange to rent the CR from the DVC owner for points? If so, the DP will not be available to you for the CR nights. If you booked the CR through CRO/WDWTC, you will need to add the DP through them and follow those "rules" as far as adding it to a room and ticket package. I believe there is also a 3 night minimum to get a package, and if that is true, then you can't get the DP for your CR cash stay.

I would do it now or as soon as convenient from now. THe DVC owner may need some lead time. AFAIK, you do not get any special confirmation for adding the DP - you should already have the written confirmation letter for the actual DVC reservation. That would have been forwarded to you from the owner. If you do not already have a DVC reservation, you may be disappointed for this year - AFAIK, the DVC resorts are pretty much booked for December 2006.

You post didn't sound dumb.

For stays at a DVC resort that are paid for with DVC points, DVC owners, their guests and those who rent from them do not have to buy a ticket to buy the Dining Plan.

MS says emphatically you can make no changes of any kinds through the front desk at any time including check in. I have seen reported and had the personal experience that one could make changes at check in but it should not be counted on. The CR is a separate reservation and you will not be able to get the DDP for this option since it's less than the minimum 3 nights and it would have to be part of a package at full price also. The member is the one who must work with MS to add or change this for the renter.

This is our first time renting from DVC. So you are saying if staying 3 nights beginning of Dec. we would have to get the dining for threee nights? If staying at SSR would it be worth it? Is the dining plan good anywhere in DTD? I hear dining at SSR is somewhat limited so any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thx

There is no minimum for the DDP using with DVC. But there are restrictions using it for CRO cash reservations including at DVC resorts. The last I heard these restrictions included a min 3 night stay, all members of the party, entire length of stay and a package deal including a full price room and at least one days ticket for each person on the package. You don't have to buy more tickets if you stay longer but you must qualify for the package. The only restrictions that currently applies to DVC are the LOS and all members of the party. A unit type or resort change is treated as 2 different stays.

Be aware that the Dining Plan is ALOT of food. We are large eaters, and even we got tired of desserts by the end of our trip. To give you an idea, after 10 days at Disney, I had gained 15 pounds, and we used the end of our food just before leaving for the airport! Our big problem was that we needed more snacks, which we used for water, and we were getting the large bottles at $3.59, too! So, while it's a great idea, you may like the idea that you are staying some nights without the plan if you change resorts.
