Cost of CM dinner..

I'm really not sure how I'd want to answer this. I'm constantly hitting the edit button!

Are you only staying at the resort one night only? I'd probably just pay OOP if that's the case, unless I'm doing a character meal or buffet.

You must take the DDP for the entire length of your stay. Are you staying for one night, or more? If it's more, then the choice can't be DDP for one night.

Trying to decide if I should add DDP or just pay OOP its just for one day of dining..

I will assume you booked more restaurants than the amount of dining credits you have, and thats why you want to pay OOP??? Honestly, CM isnt very good at all. If I paid for my meal OOP, i'd be ticked!!! I would use the dining plan for this one and pay for another meal OOP. Lol.

I don't know why CM gets such a bad rap for dinner. It was actually one of my favorite dinners on our last trip. The ribs were delicious and fall off the bone tender, the mashed potatoes were phenomenal....I think their chicken was good too. We are actually paying OOP for CM during our November trip as we're staying off-site the first two nights (didn't see the point in paying over an extra $2000 for 2 rooms at the Poly for the day after Thanksgiving and that Saturday), however we're still going to go to CM. The character interaction is always fantastic and the kids (as well as the adults) love it there.

The answer would probably be different based on whether the OP is staying only one night and this is the one meal they chose, or if they are staying multiple nights and intend to eat only at one TS restaurant (the dining plan would not be advantageous for this), or if they have more meals than DDP credits and are asking about paying for this one.

If its the above scenario, its simple enough to figure out.

Just pay OOP for the cheapest meal that you will have on your vacation. It has nothing to do with what a meal is worth.

Its purely numbers and simple math.

I agree with you...I love CM...been there for breakfast and dinner and have had great meals.

IMO, dinner buffets are rediculously expensive for the quality of food you get. It's priced to the point where it is a bit of a rip-off if you are paying OOP, but it is a good deal if on the dining plan (adults are about $35 and kids 3-9 are about $18 for CM dinner, could be higher depending on when you go).

Sorry guys.. Its a very quick weekend trip staying 1 night Hilton DTD and 1 night CBR. I had quick service DDP and I called DD and they said it was $38.33 pp. So I did the math and it would have been over $114 OOP for Chef Mickeys. It was only $54 to upgrade our DDP to the middle one and so I saved over $60 doing it this way!

Im going to CM b/c I have a 10 yr old boy Im bringing that has never been to WDW and I think its the perfect setting for him to get character time and he will thing the monorail is neat! It took me weeks of trying 4 or 5 times a day to score nex Sat CM Adr at 730 and Im super excited for him!
