Does anyone know what the cost is for the fantasmic dining plan at the Brown Derby? Is it just the cost of the food, or an extra charge? We are going Jan 21st, do you think it is to late to even book this?

The package price is a set $37/adult and $11/child. It includes an appetizer (although the famous Cobb salad is for two), entree & dessert. You get the voucher for Fantasmic! seating after the meal. I think this is a great deal since to eat at the other places is $10/child and $20 something/adult. Plus, doing the math, I would pay out of pocket for this instead of using 2 whole TS credits/person. You do have to add in tax, tip and adult beverages though. Still seems like a good deal to eat at a signature restaurant and a show afterwards!

Do both adults get an appetizer & dessert? Can you order anything off the menu? I agree this is not a bad price. Do you know if I will still be able to get a seating for a trip in two weeks?

There is a special menu but my DH and I were able to find something quite easily. It is an appetizer, entree and dessert for each adult. If you would like the Cobb salad, the two of you can split it for an appetizer. You could try to book it. Later times open up closer to the dates. It doesn't hurt to try! I also agree with paying OOP instead of using the 2 TS on the dining plan. We love this place and can't wait to be there for Valentine's Day!

With the FDP you get an appetizer, entree and dessert from the regular menu. There is no special menu. We were on the dining plan, but decided to pay OOP. The total bill with tax included was $140.82 ($36.99 per adult).

The food was very good and our waitress, Lisa F., was excellent.

Must be new then. When we went in November 2004 there was a special menu for FDP.

I have to disagree - I don't think it is a good deal at all. Our family of four (incl children 12 and 9) ate there and had a very nice meal, for at least $50 less than what it would have cost to get the package. HBD really is very reasonably priced. I suppose if we all had appetizer and dessert, the price would have been about the same, but we never eat that much. DS12 ordered the half-chicken and got a BIG chicken, with two thighs! :scratchin He had way more than he could eat.

You have to realize that a lot of people go to the Brown Derby solely to take advantage of the FDP (myself included). We probably wouldn't go without doing the package since we can take advantage of it. Also, 90% of the rave reviews I've read on this place involve their famous cobb salad (appetizer) and their grapefruit cake (dessert). Plus, many people are on the dining plan and are used to getting an appetizer & dessert for their meal. At a fine place like this, I want to try as much of their food as I can even if they have to roll me over to Fantasmic!
When we say it's an excellent deal to do the package at $37 what we mean is that you're getting a 3 course dinner at a signature restaurant with reserved seats to a popular show after. Plus you only pay $1 more here for kids than you would at the other two restaurants. Can't beat this deal in my opinion...
We also stressed it's a better deal to pay out of pocket for this package deal than to use up 2 TS credits per person.

I'm so glad you guys posted about paying OOP. We booked the FDP for May 2006 and was about to use 2 credits. I can now use those 2 credits for Flying Fish. I'm really looking to dine @ both restaurants. Thanks Again! :cool1:

Thanks everyone for your input, I am going to try to book it now for my trip.
