Haven't been reading threads on this part of the site for a few days, so if this is a dup. post I am sorry.
Just wondering if anyone else got this.
I got an annouancement in the mail today that the DDE card was so popular that Disney is goning to have a newsletter just for it... But it also has a price increase. Including is a new $25 charge for a "second" card. So now if I want to get another card so DH and I can both have one it will cost us $65 for the AP holder card and then $25 for the second...
At a total of $90 this is NOT the deal that $50 was last May,'95 for the 2 cards we used... I think we will still save money if we do get this, but , WOW! what a shocker...
The only good thing is that when I got this last year Disney dated it good till July/Aug of this year... And also my DH and DS both have the same name... so we could send the college kids off with one of the cards with DS and keep the one with DH and younger DS and I!

Can I assume you mean May of 05?

Funny, once they got people hooked on it they raise the prices. It was one reason to buy an AP, but no more. Why do they have to mess with something when it works. IF they didn't want all these people to buy it, then they should have kept it the way it was. Mine expires 8/31, and we are going back the end of June. so I will have gotten 3 trips in on it for a total of days. I guess I got my monies worth!

I don't get the 2nd card thing. I paid 50 bucks in december and got two cards.

In 2005, I guess you could say DDE was a buy one, get one free deal. That is no longer the case, and I can't say that I disagree with that decision.

Most people who received a second card complimentary were dining with the secondary card holder anyways (spouses, significant others, etc.) so there really was no need for the second card. I guess the only relatable thing I can thing of is AAA; if I want a "companion" membership I get a discounted rate but not a second free membership (although I can utilize my membership when in others vehicles so I can't say that is the best analogy.)

Just to keep things accurate, the 2006 price for AP holders, new or renewal, is $60, not $65. Tax not included.

Maybe they were trying to discourage the second card not being used as it was intended. It was supposed to be for a spouse on partner but I saw posts on here about people ordering the second card for a friend and splitting the cost.

I have used the card for a year now, and to tell the truth, with the money I've saved on the four trips I took this year to Disney, a $10 increase is not going to bother me. That card must have saved me at least $250 last year. I am not going to complain. :thumbsup2

woops... I did mean May 05... finger slip, Sorry folks.
It never occured to me to order 2 cards and split the cost with a friend/neighbor! So does that make me dumb, or honest, or both... please don't really answer this!
Thanks for the cost correction, I also meant to type $60, but I was really not sure... that finger is causing me a lot of trouble...

And if I thought I was goning to take 4 trips a year, it would be worth the cost. As I said we were lucky that DS has the same name as DH and he carried the card. I did not think this was ripping off Disney, as he only used it when we were all down there. And only when we went to different parks. He was with us for most meals.

I did use it for all the kids in the big troup we took down! As the card stated it could be used for a group of up to 10(I think..?), it came in very handy. Saved a bunch of DS's college friends a ton of money. They would meet me at the park/rest. we wanted to eat at and all eat together.

So I guess it is worth it, or at least it will be another arguement for more trips down next year... That alone is a good reason to get it maybe!

We've had DDE for years (as Florida residents), and while the complimentary second card for the spouse was nice, IMO it's far from essential. When we're at WDW, we're going to be eating our meals together anyway, so in future we'll just get one card - no big deal.

Us too. We renewed two months early (Dec 29 for a Feb 28 expire) and got the old price and 2nd card free.

The CM couldn't understand why I was doing that. I had to explain a couple times that our trips this year are in June and Oct so it didn't really matter as our first trip in 2007 was after Feb 28. Still not sure she got it, but she said she did.
