Is there a straight foward document or website that I can view to see exactly how much it costs? I am getting married next July and I want to purchase a vacation club ownership for my now fiancee as a wedding gift for her. But I can't find anything that tells me how much it costs, how it works, or anything like that. Please help :(

Go to dvcnews.com for current pricing & incentives(new incentives are expected to be announced on June 15 - so what you see presently posted will most likely be changed or perhaps eliminated altogether). Link to current pricing/incentive page at dvcnews :

Also, there is a webcast you may sign up for ( I will attempt to post link here in few minutes ) beginning on June 10 which would probably be helpful to you.

ETA : here is link to sign up for webcast; it is expected that webcast will announce incentives ( some may specifically be available to those signing up for webcast )

You may also buy a DVC membership via resale market. Click on banner at top of this page - The Timeshare Store is an excellent, knowledgeable DVC resale broker and many here, myself included have purchased DVC contracts through them. Often buying resale can result in savings over Disney's price - you may buy a DVC membership via resale for less points than Disney will require you to buy if you make your first purchase directly through them (direct buy through Disney is 160 pt minimum) and especially for a resort like SSR buying resale can presently save significant $ (saving $30+ per point is possible depending upon resale contract at SSR).

Best wishes :goodvibes

How much a DVC membership costs is a very difficult question to answer as you've posed it. How many points do you want to buy? What will be your "home" resort? Essentially, points cost anywhere from $60/point to $112/point depending on what your "home" resort is. If you want to simply buy a minimum contract through Disney (currently 160 points) at, say, BLT you can expect to pay about $17,920 plus closing costs of about $200. However, even that cost is inflated because right now Disney is offering a discount of $8/point or if you have a DVC member referral, $14-16/point depending on how many points you buy. If you buy into the other two resorts that Disney is currently selling (AKV or SSR) you will see an even higher discounted rate.

You also have the option of buying DVC via resale and, while you won't be able to get some of the newer resorts, you can get the majority of DVC's resorts at a highly discounted rate if you go that route. If you can tell us a little bit more information about what you would like your home resort to be and how many points you want to initially purchase, we can probably hone in on a more specific answer for you. :goodvibes

DVC is a points based timeshare program. You buy a certain number of points (you decide that) and then you are free to use those points at any of the DVC resorts, as well as you those points for other options outside of the DVC resorts (although most will tell you DVC provides the most value when you use them at the DVC resorts).

Since there are so many DVC resorts, one of the first things is to look at all the properties available and try to decide what you might like. Where you buy your points, your "home resort", comes with some advantages. Members get to book vacations at their home resorts starting 11 months in advance of check in. To stay at other DVC resorts, not your home resort, you can start booking 7 months in advance of check in.

How many points to buy depends on when you go, what type of room you want for that trip, and the resort? There is a link at the top to the points charts at all the resorts. Be sure to use the 2010 points chart (not 2009) as changes are happening starting then.

Unlike weekly timeshares, DVC allows you the flexibility to decide when, where, and for how long you want to stay. Some go 2 or 3 times a year, for long weekends, or others, like me, will go once a year for a longer stay. You are not locked in to buying a specific "week" or a specific "room".

So, if one year, you want to go for a week in December, you can!! If the next year, you want a a longer weekend in the summer, you can!!! All you need are the points!

Of course, in addition to the initial buy in, there are MF's each year and those are dependent on the resort and number of points you own.

As a PP mentioned, dvcnews.com is a great site as well as this one. You will find all the answers you need!

Good luck!
