Hi....anybody know what the approximate cost is for renting Wave Runners at VB? Also what are the age requirements for the 'driver'? Are passengers allowed and if so, is there a minimum age requirement for passengers? E.G., Could I take an almost 3 year old on a Wave Runner having him sit in front of me or does the passenger (if passengers are allowed) have to sit behind the driver? (Not sure I could trust my 3 year old to hold on, and even if I could, it'd make me a nervous wreck worrying about him if I didn't have my arms around him!) Even if 3 is too young, I'd still be interested in the info as we also have a DS, 9, and DD, 5.

Finally, is there a required path that you need to follow with the Wave Runners? E.G., we rented Wave Runners on Captiva Island, but the rules were that we needed to follow an oval shaped pattern around two buoys.....that was o.k., but we wished we had a little more freedom to go where we wanted to go.

Thanks!

My duaghters were really disappointed the last time we went to Vero because they told us that you had to be 18 to use the wave runners. They were 15 and 17 at the time. They do make you show a valid drivers license too.

Eva....thanks for the reply. I can imagine how disappointed 15 and 17 year olds would be! I would have never guessed the age requirement would be overe 16!

Do you know if passengers are allowed on the Wave Runners and if so, if there's a minimum age for the passengers? (I know that's probably not an option 15 and 17 year olds would have been interested in anyway.)

Thanks!

They cost $55 for a half hour, and I'm pretty sure I saw adults with children on the back of them. I'm not sure if you are allowed to have them in front of you. One thing though - have you ever ridden on the back of one of those things with somebody else driving? It's scary as heck!!! You never know what that maniac driver is going to do next. DH and I won't ride with each other anymore!

There is no pattern that you have to follow, but they give you some boundaries that you shouldn't exceed. I think we weren't supposed to go farther south than the next resort, farther north than the boardwalk (because the public beach is north of there) and if we thought we were too far out, we probably were.
