Cosmic Ray's Veggie Burgers

I just noticed that Cosmic Ray's official Disney menu no longer lists a veggie burger as a meal choice. With the recent menu change at Pecos Bill's, this was the only remaining place at MK for a non-red meat eater to get a decent burger. And yes, I know that Cosmic Ray's now has a falafel burger, but that doesn't interest me.

Can anyone there now confirm that veggie burgers are no longer being offered?

Thanks much.

1) Even if not on the menu, many QS-eateries have a vegie burger.
2) Since the change of vendors, they aren't that good, but, most do have them.
3) You have to ask SPECIFICALLY at the register.

Thanks. But if they no longer use Morningstar, it might not be any good. Unlike the Morningstar products you can buy at most grocery stores, some specialty stores carry their veggie burger which is about an ounce more in weight than the grocery store 10 ounce packages of four variously named burgers. I just bought a package of 16 that weighs 56 ounces. So you're getting 3.5 ounce burgers, instead of 2.5. I thinks that, or something similar, is what Cosmic Ray's used to use. (Actually, they may have bought a black bean version, but I'm not sure.)

But if anyone in the next few days actually goes to the restaurant, please let me know. We're going in 20 days and I'll have to change our quick service dinner plans for that day if they don't have it anymore.

Thanks everyone.

It's just so stupid to not have it on the menu.

1) Why announce it to "the world"?
2) Most of the world does no concern themselves with vegetarian or Vegan.
3) WDW is a mass-marketer.
4) So, just to have these things "available" is enough.
5) They need to apply to the masses, not the exceptions.

Why should a menu announce what a restaurant has available? Is that a real question? :confused3

Not all restaurants have vegetarian options, and that's fine. Well, I mean, it can be a bit disappointing, but it's a reality we're used to. I check menus and make sure a restaurant has something I'll eat, before I go. Why on earth would I go to a restaurant that doesn't have a vegetarian option on the menu and expect to be accommodated? (Or, in this case, why would I expect the restaurant to have one vegetarian option on the menu but also something else available that's not on the menu?)

There are many people in the world who are vegetarian. Whole swaths of a huge country are vegetarian for religious and cultural reasons.

They have had it on the menu in the past. This is a CHANGE. There is no good reason for it.

You have them available and you tell people that. "Veggie burgers available" is a nice phrase that could easily be put on the menu. Doesn't hurt anyone.

Seriously.

They do still have a veggie burger - it's a falafel burger not Morningstar.

Stupid that it's not on the menu (how are you meant to know?) but it is there.

It does list it online on their official site as I was just checking it out.

Falafel is falafel. It's not a veggie burger. Fwiw. Rusty, who works in food service there, indicates there is also a veggie burger. So supposedly there is falafel and there is a veggie patty.

If Ray's got rid of the veggie burger, we are going to be one unhappy family, especially DD who is vegetarian but that's typically what all 3 of us get there. We usually eat there twice each trip. I don't even know where else she would have something to eat that she likes in MK. Ugh! I hope they keep it and just don't list it (which makes no sense but Disney does that all the time).

For the same reason as any menu, or even any advertising. They'll sell more if they post it.

Otherwise we get a self-fulfilling prophecy:
  1. "We don't sell that many, so we'll take it off the menu but still carry it. "
  2. Fewer people order it because it's not on the menu so they assume it's not available.
  3. "Wow, sales have really gone down. Let's stop carrying it altogether."
It's not like Burger King. Most people into veggie burgers know that BK has them, so if they wander into a BK with limited space on their menu board and don't see it, they know to ask. But at Disney, there's not enough shared experience to know to ask.

Just back and asked specifically at Cosmic Rays if there was any additional vegetarian option than the Falafel and was told there was not.

And the Falafel option was nasty.

We had popped into Pecos Bills earlier thinking I could get the veggie burrito option but it was not on the menu and I was not willing to stand in line to just find out if it was "secret" but available. That absolutely is stupid. One line of text on the menu isn't too much too ask.

Agreed!

So does any place in MK still have a veggie burger?

Not that I found at any Quick Service restaurant. Columbia Harbor House seems to be the best vegetarian option at the moment, unless there really is a hidden veggie option at Pecos Bill's.

I do think the Plaza Restaurant still has a veggie burger on their menu, but we weren't doing any table services meals on this past quick trip.

My biggest disappointment is in the loss of the veggie sandwich that was SO yummy at Hollywood Studios Backlot. We ended up at the Commissary where I could get an Asian salad without the chicken as the only vegetarian option on the menu (unless I wanted to order from the kids menu...)
