Cosmetic Surgery

I'd love to have a chin implant. I swear, as I've gotten older (and I'm only 25!) my chin has been receding. I hate my profile, and I have a double chin half the time, even though I'm not overweight. The only thing that scares me is that they usually combine that with a little liposuction under the chin, and I don't really like the idea of that. I've seen it on tv, and that little wand being thrust around in the throat area is terrifying!

I might have it done someday if I could ever justify the cost. Right now, with being fairly newly married, just buying our 1st house, and contemplating kids in the next 5 years I really can't see spending that kind of money for elective, cosmetic surgery.

You know when you can tie the twins behind your neck to keep from tripping on them, it is time for a redo :rotfl2:

I tell my husband that it is a gift that keeps on giving :rotfl2:

Oh someday, to dream

I'd love to have the twins lifted and slightly augmented. I was flat as a board pre-baby, but was really blessed by the Milk Fairy. I *loved* those twins. They looked good, I looked good in shirts for once in my life, and it was great - except when they leaked. ;) Now that he's weaned, I've gone down to a B, which is better than nothing, but I'd just like a little lift and a bit more in there.

Also, Lasik (which I will actually do someday) and possibly a tummy tuck if I can't get rid of this post-baby tummy.

Have you ever really considered having work? I would love to have the twins lifted and maybe a little tummy tuck, but then I think nah.... But I see no difference than getting my hair colored, my teeth whitened blah blah blah.
So tell me have you? It will be our little secret ;)

I've had a breast augmentation and a mini-tummy tuck three months ago, and I'm thrilled with the results. I sort of looked at it as reconstructive surgery - just fixing the damage done to my body by having four kids. Some friends haven't even noticed that I had anything done. Because of people who abuse cosmetic surgery, there seems to be a stigma associated with having procedures done and that makes some people hesitant to consider it. I don't think you need to justify it to anyone - if it will make you happy and help you feel good about yourself, go for it! :thumbsup2

For those of you considering a tummy tuck be very modest in your expectations. MY SIL had one, performed by one of the most reputable surgeons on the east coast, and frankly, she looks the same. She never looked any different afterwards and did not take steps to maintain it. (She was about 5' 8", 200 lbs pre surgery...I don't know what the ideal canidate is for a tummy tuck but she was really overweight and unfit, not just the unfortunate keeper of post pregnancy belly skin, although that is part of the problem.)

The best candidate for a tuck should be close to their ideal weight. Having a tummy tuck soley to lose weight is never a good idea, and a really good surgeon wouldn't perform a tuck unless the patient was a good candidate. Also the results of a tummy tuck, especially if muscle repair was done should last indefinitely as long as you remain maintain your weight and a healthy level of fitness. You are right though that you should be realistic when having any cosmetic surgery. For example, I thought by going up a cup size would greatly enhance my figure. In reality, I ended up with a fuller version of what I already had, so while there is definitely a change, it's very subtle. I am happy with my results, but I didn't get the "wow" result that I thought I would. Also, my tummy tuck left me with a nice flat stomach, but the surgeon was only able to remove about 50% of my stretch marks. I was a little disappointed, but I understood that plastic surgeons can't always work miracles! Despite that, my tummy still looks 100% better than it did. So yes, you really do have to have a realistic and positive attitude when you decide to have any type of elective surgery done. And research, research, research!

I remember when you posted to my botox thread! So glad to hear everything went well. How was your recovery? I couldn't do the breast implant thing because of the breast cancer history in my family--if I am like my mom and her relatives and do get cancer, I will definitely have reconstructive surgery. However, I always think about the tummy tuck. I am relatively small, relatively thin but can't bounce back from the three kids. I have a space between my stomach muscles that doesn't go away no matter what ab work I do. Send me a PM if you have time and let me know about your recovery. Hope all is well!

I'd like a breast reduction, mostly to make my back hurt less.

Otherwise, nah...I'm not perfect, but I'm OK with it. :)

I had a breast reduction/lift (covered by insurance) and an eye lift (not covered, paid cash) in January of this year. I am so happy with my new twins, but I must say I wish they were a little smaller - I went down two cup sizes. I had wanted to do it for years but have always worked and I needed three weeks recovery time (hey, we can't have anything interfering with Disney vacation time, right?) It is so nice to be able to buy regular bathing suits and bras in a "D" cup. And my shoulders and back are not stressed out so much trying to hold up all that sagging weight. My eyes on the other hand have bothered me since the surgery and I wish I had let them be. I do look younger, but have been to the eye doctor many, many times trying to discover the reason for my discomfort (they water a lot and are scratchy). As long as you prepare yourself for the pain and recovery process, it's all good. Good luck deciding :)

I've had a face lift, brow lift, tummy tuck, and breast lift w/ augmentations...and fat injections on the nose to lip lines. I've had all of that done in the past two years, but because I only went for restoring my normal self no one ever noticed unless I told them. Another thing that helped was that I always hid my imperfections...before the tummy tuck I would have no more worn low ride pants or a shorter top than I would fly. My results have been great but...I was and am at my ideal weight...I eat well and exercise...and I picked a great surgeon. The tummy tuck scar was gross at first but after 10 months it is almost invisible in spots. I was anorexic as a teen, then had two large babies...a large bust and small hips and I just didn't have a figure that could bounce back. Yes, it is a lot of money but when I see women buying expensive jewelry, purses, deluxe WDW rooms...my surgeries were lots cheaper in the long run, and I don't regret one dime or one bit of the pain. Actually will be booking an arm lift and chin implant next month. Mr Dr. told me to get the chin implant at the time of the facelift, said it would make the results last longer...now I understand what he meant. The facelift was my first procedure, so I didn't have quite the same trust level that I do now...knowing what I know now I'd go in w/ a check and tell him how much time I could take off and have him decide what would give me the most bang for the buck.
