Ds will be 3 mo when we go to wdw.
He currently sleeps in a bassinet next to my bed...
In WDW, I know the BCV have pack n plays...but I am wondering if I should bring a sleep positioner for him to sleep in the pnp or get one of those snuggle nest things that allows him to sleep in the bed with us....any thoughts?

If he is sleeping in a bassinet now, I'd start out by trying the Pack N Play. I know I never sleep as well away from home so I wouldn't want to risk disturbing my DD's sleep by my restlessness... although she's such a sound sleeper I doubt she'd notice. :)

casey & I share a birthday, separated by a whole bunch of years! :)

Is he small? Do you have one of the pack n plays with a bassinnet attachment? I think the one we had went up to 15 pounds. Ours was the simple kind, with nothing added on except the bassintte. It was the same size as the regular mattress, but raised up closer to the top of the PnP. If you have or can get one of those, it's nice. The newer, fancy ones have just a tiny bassinette that is 1/2 the mattress.

The nest thing doesn't sound so great for an unfamiliar place. Most babies get used to a pack n play after a couple of days, so if you try it out at home you'll be fine!

Have a great trip!

at 3 months I'd request a king bed and co-sleep. We never used anysort of nest, just snuggled the baby up with us.
We did have a crib in the room, which we used for naps, but she never seemed happy there all night and always ended up in bed with us

PS - you need to make an area in the bed with no pillows - we usually sleep on either side and have no pillows in the middle for the baby

I think we will try the pnp. He is a pretty big baby--he was almost 9 lbs at the start. I have the kolcraft bassinet now, which I think he will be out of soon.:( He's growing up so fast! I am afraid to sleep with him in the bed...
I will get one of those positioners and have him in the pnp...he is a great sleeper, so I am not anticipating any issues as far as sleeping goes. Kid can sleep anywhere!!!!
thank you for the ideas and suggestions though!::MickeyMo

what;s the sleep positioner for? we never used anything like that, we just put DD in the pnp.
I guess I am off the philoophy that there is a lot of 'stuff' sold for babys that you don't really need - they just sell it to mums who are scared cause they are new at being mums.

We did use a sleeping bag for babys, have you seen those? They are great - they can't kick the blankets off and there are no covers for them to get under.
Sleep Sack

I think they are brilliant.

I know what you mean about big babys just getting bigger, mine was 9lbs 4 when she was born and she's a big 1 year old now and just keeps on growing! She will be in the pack n play next month, but I bet she ends up in with us most nights

I have a sleep positioner but never used it. My MIL got it new (ish?) at a yard sale so I guess those people didn't use it either, LOL!

The sleep sacks for babies are wonderful! We still use one sometimes for my 15 month old because I am paranoid about blankets. I love love love them!!

You can always use rolled up towels instead of bringing a sleep positioner.

When we go next week out twins will be 3 1/2 mo and they are going to sleep in the bed with my wife. My DD 2 yo is sleeping with me and our DS 7 yo is sleeping in the extra bed in the grandparents room. We are taking a pack n play for a place to lay the babies when needed.

Depending on where you stay, they'll roll a crib in there as well. They're big, industrial looking things, but the mattress is comfortable and the rails are set to the correct distance from eachother. I liked this option better because my daughter was at the same level as me, and not so close to the floor.

The next visit, we're planning on asking for two queen size beds and put her in one by herself, since she'll be three and plenty old enough to be out of a crib.

We used this contraption that prevented her from rolling over, but you would lay her on top of it when she went in her bed. We also used that circular thing that prevents their heads from 'flattening out' in the back.

Hope you have a Great Trip! (say Hi to Mickey for us)

We used a sleep positioner until my daughter was 4 months old and I loved it. The reason I used it is that when I put her down in the sleep positioner she slept much better, I think because she felt very snug, kind of like she was in the womb and in my arms. I think if he's used to the 'smallness' of a bassinet, the sleep positioner might make the PnP a little cozier.

I also suggest bring your own sheets from home so he has the smell of home.

IMO, if you have him cosleep with you while there, you will have him wanting to cosleep when you get back home. They learn fast. I think your right to try the pnp and the sleep positioner, it will make him feel more snuggled.

Yes, they grow tooooo fast.

If your baby sleeps in a bassinet, then I would suggest not putting him in bed with you at all. He is alrerady conditioned to sleep without you which is fantastic! A pack n play is very cozy for little ones and you will get a better nights sleep not waking up all checking for him. My DD always slept in her crib but when we travelled, the pnp was the best. I had my DD in my bed only a couple of times and it is too nerve wracking wondering if I am going to roll over onto her or bump her. I never slept through the night when she was with me and I am so grouchy if I don't get good sleep. I would say just bundle him up in cozy pj's and lay him to sleep in the pnp. Putting towels, blankets or pillows in with him would be a hazard and it is highly frowned upon by pediatricians to put anything in with our kids. I may just be a nervous nelly but better safe than sorry has worked for me.

I would go with the PNP and have the positioner...if the baby sleeps in the bed with you for the vacation, it might be a nightmare getting him to go back to the bassinet...

There is really no need for a sleep positioner unless your baby has a medical condition that requires him to be on his side when lying down, or if he spits up alot and you are concerned about choking. Some babies do like the "closeness" of it, like being swaddled, but most have outgrown that by 3 mos. and want to have room to move a little bit. We strap them in car seats, swings, high chairs, etc. The only time they get to practice moving their little muscles is when they're laying down. If he gets used to going to sleep that way now, the crib won't be much of a transition at all.
