Just got done listening to the podcast show about the Military.
One thing kept driving me crazy, and it should be corrected.
NOTHING is ever taxed on a military base. Military Commissaries, Exchanges, convenience stores, restaurants, and Ticket offices are all tax free.
I have bought the Armed Forces Salute tickets several times and always on base, and there is NO TAX charged on base. This is the same reason why there is no tax when the tickets are purchased at Shades of Green, since technically, SOG is a military facility. You also don't pay sales tax in the restaurants and gift shop at SOG.
Just a little technicality that deserves to be cleared up. It is FAR easier to purchase these tickets at your base before you come down than to make the trip over to SOG and wait in that line. However, NOT all bases keep WDW tickets in stock, so they may have to be ordered in advance if your base doesn't have them.
Also, if a Spouse purchases an Armed Forces Salute ticket, the active duty servicemember does NOT have to be present for activation. The spouse is considered "equal" for these purposes. So, the active duty member OR spouse needs to be present for activation.
