Hi Everyone -

I ran the Princess Half last year, 7 months post-op from cervial spine surgery. I trained well, or what could be considered since I did all of my training on my TM due to the lovely snow we had here in the north east:rotfl::rotfl:

I was in Corral "C" in the back, I truly spent 3 miles trying to get some breathing room to run on the road - not the sides of the road. I finished in 2:46:15 which I think is great for my first half - my trap muscles in my neck went making it impossible to swing my arms to move yet alone run. Not to mention I hit a wall at mile 11.............worst feeling ever...ugh.

Does anyone know the corral finish times for Disney?

I would love to moved up to corral "b", and I have a half in Oct I am also doing. Depending on that finish time will depend if I find a 10k that will be give me a finish time to get moved up.

Anyone have any ideas? Huge thanks as my goal for oct is to be moved up a corral :)

I submitted a 2:28 time (from 1st Princess half) and got corral b this year. Actually loved it. never a crowd and finished in 2:09

Amazing time Joan:banana::banana::banana:

My PR goal is 2:30, however I am not sure if that is even possible. I consider my half in Oct as my first Half since the princess last year was only 7 months post op and I had some restrictions.

I just tried to call disney endurance to ask them - and I got a machine. I am hoping to find out something so I have something to aim for.

I figure worse case I can always find a 10K and just push it all the way, to get into corral b.

Thanks again~!!

FYI - your time this your will get you in corral A :) My gf going into the princess was a 2:05 and finish 1:50 and had A........ so congrats on moving up!!

You truly will be running with the Kenyans!!:laughing::laughing::laughing::thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I think it depends on how many people are registered for the race. In 2009, I used a 10K proof of time (57:00) for the January 1/2 which put me into Corral B. This year, I used the proof of time from the same race and that put me into Corral C. Go figure...

Everything is a crap shot, but I was told that their are different finish times depending on the race/run. For example the Princess is based on Female finish time - wherein January is based upon male/female.

God only knows if that is true - I guess I will find out Monday :)

How much of a difference does it make what corral you are in? I have never run before so this is all new to me. Thanks!

If you are not looking for a time it really does not matter. Once you know how fast you run then getting into a proper corral can be as issue especially if running a sub 12 minute pace.

Last year was my first half too - I did not care what corral I was in BUT I did not want to be in the last corral because I had trained to run the whole thing. So to be in the last corral with walkers I knew I would spend alot of time trying to get room to run. So when I was placed in "C" I was thrilled because I believe the last corral was E.

I had an amazing time for my first half, but I did spend the first 3 miles trying to get space to run the whole time otherwise I was running on the sides of the road that were also uneven and I took a chance of falling.

Since I did last year, like coach says, I want to improve my time because I know I can do it! Last year was all about just finishing this year it is about really proving that I can do better - because I did hit a wall at mile 9 and I did walk a bit at the end because my trap muscles in my neck were fried because I was only 7 months post op. So yes for me, it is about improving my time its another small goal outside of just finishing :love:

Does anyone have a guess for what time or pace will be used as the cut-off between the first and second corrals (I guess that's A and B)? I know no one knows for sure, but any guesses from those of you who have done other Disney halfs? Frank?

I assume that your "place" within a corral is just a function of how early you line up, or how much you want to push or squeeze to the front, right?

Hi Everyone -

I called and spoke to the timing company for Disney today and found out:

1. Corrals are different for every race depending on size and gender (for example, the princess corrals will be differant than marathon weekend as more woman run it than men)

2. Nothing is set in stone until 2 months out

3. they can only give you last years corral info and guess on this year.

For the Princess last year:

My g/f had a 2:05 time and was placed in Corral A -- this year the woman said she would be in corral b (makes no sense, but said the race is expected to be alot larger this year so the corrals will be adjusted)

She gave me these figures as a guide:

Corral A - is for those with a 1:45 or less half time

Corral B is for those with a 2:05 half time

Corral C is for those with a 2:25 half time

Corral D is for those with a 2:45 half time

Corral E is for those who expect to finish in 3 hours

**Depending on the size she said it could be a 25 minute window but right now it is a 20 min window** The woman also pointed out that the 20 min window insures that the first 3-4 miles out of the gate will be FREE.

I will add that the even splits in times is only a goal for the RD. You may find some coralls with larger time splits - it really depends on the demographics of the race. The larger the race the more likely that is to occur. It's really an effort to balance the race and give the faster folks some chance of being in front of the slower folks.

While this is a discussion of the Princess I know that I bounce between the first three corrals in January. It really depends on the number of fast folks who enter.

I know the course - if the wave the start in addition to the coralls lends itself to being open once you cross the bridge.

Thanks for updating... It's alay good to see a little of how other RD's try to operate.

Looking at this thread I am starting to get a little concerned. The WDW half in January is going to be my first race ever. I am shooting for a sub 2 hour finish time. I believe I am going to be placed in the last corral because I don't have any other race times to submit. Am I going to be frustrated trying to run, while surrounded by walkers?

Find a local 10k and send that time into the RD or bring a printout of the race results to the expo. They will then put you in the correct corral. Note a 2 hour time equates to a 54 minute 10k; a 1:45 half roughly a 47 minute 10k.

It will be worth the investment to get bumped into the first wave. I have started in the back when I seeded myself for a slow half in the first Goofy and I think it cost me a good 10 minutes or so in the race. But it was also the first half on a slightly different course with no wave starts. If you end up in the back just understand that the first mile and a quater will be slow then the course opens up. One other pinch point would be of concenr and that is late mile 4 under the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Thanks cewait. You just answered my followup question too. I was concerned that because I had registered for the half with no proof of time that my fate was sealed. I found a local 10k in November that I'll run.
