I realize that no one here can officially give me an exact answer to my question, but I'm going to ask it anyway and see if I get some "in my experience" type answers....

My sister and I want to run the wine & dine half again this year. I ran it in 2012 with a 2:52 chip time. She ran it in 2011 with a 2:33 chip time.

Obviously we would like to start in the same corral and we're open to dropping back to do so as long as it's not the last two corrals.

My questions are:
1. What corral do you think my 2:52 half would land me in?
2. What corral will her 2:33 land her in?
3. What kind of 10k time would I have to aim for in order for me to end up in a corral with someone who estimates 2:30 finish time/proof of 2:33 finish time?

I'm planning a couple races between now and then but it would be fun to have this as a goal for my 10k.

Thanks so much!

I know that Wine & Dine is smaller than the Princess Half, but I can answer based of the Princess.

Corrals went through H for the Princess. The expected break down by time was:
Corral A: Sub 2:15
Corral B: Sub 2:30
Corral C: Sub 2:45
Corral D: Sub 2:50
Corral E: Sub 3:00
Corral F: 3:00 even
Corral G: Sub 3:25
Corral H: everyone else

Well both PHM and Donald would have put her in E and her sister in C, so the difference isn't that huge.

Last year W&D corrals went through F. I'd guess that would mean D with a 2:52 time.

For last year's W&D, I entered the minimum time without proof. I was 70 numbers from being in Corral B. (I was 6969, 6900 started C if I recall correctly.)

You would need to run approximately a 1:07:17 10k to convert to a 2:30:00 half marathon. Have you considered the Great Race in September? It would be a good warmup for the Wine & Dine and it's a pretty fast course. Pretty level or downhill for the most part (with an uphill at the start and a slight uphill grade towards the finish).

Hi diskid - actually yes, I'm planning to do the Great Race. Are you? I missed registration last year or I would have done it then too. I think I get to a 1:07 10k by the end of september. I was at a 1:15 last summer and i've gotten a bit faster since then. I can certainly try! :thumbsup2

I knew I shouldn't have stopped for that picture with Wreck it Ralph!!! :lmao:

Actually, I'm not upset that I did. I didn't stop for many pictures, simply because I wasn't interested in that, just thrilled to be running through my favorite place in the middle of the night and taking it all in. But when I hit mile 10, I saw Ralph, and at that moment realized how strong my love for my DS is. He was very into Wreck it Ralph at the time, and he was not with us on the trip. I thought -what a great way to show him that I was thinking of him during the race. I was right - he loved it and I'm so glad I stopped! It's hanging on our fridge and every time I look at it I'm just amazed that I managed to run a half marathon AND be smiling in a picture. Great moment. Great memory.

Sometimes you just have to do it!!;) Before doing the Goofy challenge, we asked our son if he could only pick a couple of characters for us to stop for, what would they be. Our kids LOVE Jack and Sally and when we saw them on the 1/2, we knew we had to stop! They loved it!! Then on the full, we had to stop for Wreck it Ralph- that was the one character he asked for! Jack and Sally especially cost us some time, but so worth it!:)

My friend put in the minimum time without proof and was placed in C for W&D this past year, I think that is 2:46. I would submit that type of time at registration as opposed to using your time from last year and then try to run a faster 10k to get a better placement afterwards. I think you need around 11 min miles for B at W&D.

Last year for the Wine & Dine I gave Disney a half marathon time of 2:27:20 and found myself in corral B.

Hope this helps.

Figment...my wife and I are both running it. She needs a time to move up in Corrals for the Disney half and it's a pretty fast course since it's mostly flat and/or downhill. I hope the weather is better than last year. It rained for the last half of the race. I'll be doing the Pittsburgh Half as well. Looking forward to that one too.

Is the A corral huge? All of my halfs had been sub 2:15. I was hoping to clock a Sub 1:55 before I do tinker and princess to bump my corralling but I guess I dont have to worry about that now. Now I just have to think about placement in the front corral.

Edited to Add Disney corals make me feel fast, and I'm really not :D
