Hi Everyone,

In training for the Wine and Dine half and decided to run the Adirondack Half at the end of this month.

Up to 7 miles, and I figure even if I walk the rest I can get through it.

Would completing a slow half (3 - 3:30) allow me to move up a corral or should I just assume I'll be in the last one. Having nightmares of the sweepers!

Thanks!

It's hard to tell. You are pretty much at the mercy of a runDisney volunteer if you bring proof to the expo. Some would say "Oh, a 3 hour half, we'll move you up a corral or two!". Others will say they can only take proof of time for a half under 2:45.

However, you may not even be in the last corral in the first place. It seems fairly arbitrary which corrals people with 2:45+ estimated times get. I put 2:59 for the Princess and was in E, right in the middle. The last corrals seems to be a lot of those who put estimated times under 2:45 and then didn't provide proof. There are also rumors that those who register early get put in better corrals. Who knows.

The half at the end of this month will at least help your fear of sweepers. Once you've made it to 13.1 with time to spare, the nerves disappear and you can enjoy the race, even from the last corral. :)

I'd bring it with you. If it turns out you were orignally put in the last corral, I would suspect showing proof (even a slow proof) might get you a bump up - volunteer pending, of course!

If you are in the 2nd to last corral and show proof- they won't move you back! LOL So either way, I figure it won't hurt! I may even give you a bump up.

Bring it to the expo and see what happens.

GL!

Wait until you see your actual corral. Not sure what time you put in the application, but if you put any time you will be ahead (on paper) of those you claimed faster than a 2:45 and failed to send in a proof of time to back it up. If you put a 3;00 claim in you may be int he last or second to the last corral. (not as many corrals for W&D as other races).

Honestly, if you finish in the 3:15 -3:30 range in the coming half, you should go with the corral you are placed. I do not mean to be discouraging but with the size of the W&D corrals, the speed range for the last corral is in the 3:10 - 3:30 range.

That's my thoughts. I would rather see one train harder and worry less about gaining start line advantage.

I worked as a volunteer at the packet pickup desks at the Disneyland Half Marathon. The folks who adjust corral placements are not volunteers. They are paid employees of Trackshack, the race management Disney hired to manage the corrals and race timing.

I'm not certain taking a proof of time of 3:30 would help you. I don't see them moving you back, but if they did, it would be easy to undo. Your corral assignment is printed in the upper left corner of your bib. Trackshack employees change bib assignments by putting a sticker over the letter on your bib with the new assignment. If Trackshack moves you back to the last corral, simply peel the sticker off.

I ran the Disneyland Half Marathon. It was my first half marathon. I registered on the first day registration opened, listed an estimated finish time of 2:45 and no proof of time. I was placed in Corral E.
