we were checking out the menu at pepper market and it has some pricey items for counter service meals-18.99 for rib eye steak............etc. anyone know if everything at pepper market is 1 counter service credit???? thanks!!

You can have any entree you want, including the rib eye steak. You're limited to the lower category of desserts: muffins, danish and cookies. If a side isn't included with the meal than you have to pay extra for it.

Service isn't great, but those posts are from guests who are paying the 10% service charge. MYW Dining guests don't pay the extra 10% so just get your own drink refills if you're tired of waiting.

You get the best entree choices of any CS meal. If desserts are more important to you then the food court in the Land is better.

I was staying in CSR, unless I had a rental car or wanted to see the resort I'm not so sure Pepper Market is worth the time it takes to get there and back.

It is alot of food. You can also have your choice of non-alcoholic beverages, including the smoothies...mmm! The food is great for counter service. The portions are huge. They cook all the meat at the grill counter to order, so you do have to wait a bit. You will be most impressed if you remember that it is counter service and not table service. People are negative about the servers and "wait staff", but most Disney counter service has the person who rings up your order, and that's about it. I think because of how it differs from typical CS, people think of it as a low-grade TS. If you are on the dining plan, it's great...I think I would rate it differently if I was paying OOP, as the prices are closer to the TS end, and for that, you want TS service.

I never understood the negative reviews of the Pepper Market, but then again, I like it - so maybe that clouds my view! I can't speak for the DDP but I love the variety of food! I like getting pasta with an eggroll. Where else can you do this? They have really good pastries there too!

10% isn't a big tip at all. They seat you, take your drink order, and bus your table. I don't mind paying 10% for that, even if I get my own drink refill - besides, I don't think refills are free unless you are using a refillable mug - so if you do get your own refills in the disposable cups, um you may be getting a free soda anyway! (This is meerly an observation - no flames please).

What Disney TS restaurant or CS restaurant in the resorts doesn't offer complimentary refills? The waitress was giving us refills just sometimes very slow.

My wife wasn't served her first cup of coffee until she was more than half finished her breakfast.

I don't object to paying a service fee or tipping. The service was bad enough for me to complain to a manager and I would have felt ripped off if I had paid the 10% out of pocket.

The previous poster made a great point. If you're on a meal plan Pepper Market is a great deal. I'm not sure if would have been as good a deal if I was paying out of pocket. The pricing is closer to TS restaurants in other resorts than to CS restaurants but the service isn't as good.

We were there over August. Yes, the service stinks, we did our own drinks 99% of the time. But the food, was great. I can deal with bad service if the food is good. The prime rib was very good, my 9 year old loved the rib steak and the pasta. My 4 year old enjoyed their pizza. The mexican was really good also. My dh loved their guacamole. I meant to get the recipe, but never did. We would go back there to eat and stay in a heartbeat.

Ok, I'm an idiot. Now that I think about it, POFQ has a centralized drink station that makes it very easy to get refills. It just seems to me that other resorts I've stayed at have their drink stations cliostered to the side where you (or atleast, I) didn't think they were free. I thought that would defeat the purpose of the refillable mugs.

Oh, well - sorry I'm spreading false info! The service does seem to be hit or miss there. I guess I overlook some of the "misses".

We were there in September. I thought the food was great and both kids (picky eaters)loved it!

We ate there this past trip and the food was pretty good. I got the "special", the seafood burrito, which had salmon and shrimp that had been deep fried. My only complaint with it was that the shrimp were a little overcooked but the salmon was really good. The lady who waited on us was attentive, but the man working in the Asian food station didn't even look at me when I walked up and stopped to look. The deserts were limited but we got the chocolate chip cookies, which were good, but the guy gave me two and my cousin got three. One other thing that happened was my neice didn't like the chocolate chip cookies that came with her meal. I took a bite and they didn't taste like chocolate chip, they had more of a sugar cookie taste, like someone had forgotten the brown sugar. The HUGE cookies that we got for desert were good though.

The food is so good and huge. My DH and I split most of our meals there and that way we saved CS credits. The service is slow and if it is busy it can take a long time to get a table, get your food and your drinks and so on. Since we are not staying there we will not make a special trip to go there but if we were staying there we would be eating there and loving it.

I am now planning to go there for lunch or dinner on the "MGM day" of my trip in Fed 06. The park open 9 - 7 on that day. Should I go for lunch or dinner? How long it takes by bus? thanks for your advice.
