DH and I have always stayed at POR (except for when we stayed at BWI).

We are going to branch out and try CS - give me the low down!

What do you like, what do you not like? What should we plan on?

I notice there are three sections?

Any info is welcome

Thanks so much, you guys are the best! :flower:

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.C

CS is our favorite moderate. You'll love it. If it's just the two of you request a room in buildings 2 through 6 as they are wonderfully themed, very romantic for evening strolls and the most relaxing. They are also close to the main building and not a far walk to the pool.

As for everything else, Buzz (above) says it best. Personally we love the foodcourt -- large selection and variety. The 10% gratuity is not an issue for us as I like being seated, not having to carry my drink around while searching for a table, and not having to bus my own table.

Enjoy!

You are so helpful! Thank you! :flower:

What building/section would you recommend if I want to be near a beach and a quiet pool?

It seems having to walk too far is no longer a concern due to the shuttle system? Does that sound accurate?

Thanks!

We are just deciding where to stay also. Any input on what part to stay in with kids and if we want to be close to the main pool? thanks

Depends what you are looking for

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge. Most preferred location.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. Some rooms within steps of the Dig Site.

Cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above. cabana 9a has a quiet pool. cabana 9a also has smoking optional rooms so make sure you are clear as to what you will accept.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views.

Rancho 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a. rancho 6b is also fairly close to the main pool area.

Casita 4 is close to the gym, spa and has quiet pool. The casitas have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

Casitas 1 and 3 are the closest to the convention center and one has a covered walkway leading right to it. Casita 4 is close to the gym, spa and has quiet pool. The casitas have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

Coronado Springs is our least favorite of the moderates. We would stay there again, but only if there wasn't availablity at any of the others.

The rooms are fine, very much like the others, except only one sink instead of two. It was handy having two sinks. The bus service was very bad while we were there, but it may have been because it was when they were trying out the new "bus on demand" transportation system.

The main pool is very nice and it is always nice to have the private pools. Also, there is a gym available if you would like that.

The theming is OK, although a little bland, but that is just taste. The casitas seemed the most themed. We stayed in the Cabanas and it was fine. We had a room that was close to the main building and not far from the main pool.

We did not care for the food court here. The food was OK, but I didn't care for the set up.

Also, since this is a convention hotel it created a problem. The food court and the bar were right next to each other with no barrier between them. We were treated to loud, obnoxious, drunk conventioners every night while we ate at the food court.

There is a barrier of sorts between the food court and bar. Not much I agree but it's not like it's one big room. That said in the 10 or more times I have been there I have never had a problem with drunks from the bar. In fact I have never had a problem with any conventioneers and I have had several large conventions there when I was there. I have however seen drunken people strolling through POR from the bar to the food court and outside. My point is that all of the hotels have bars and at one time or another you will have a drunk. Just because it is a convention resort doesn't create the drunken problem.

CSR is our favorite moderate and when we stayed at POR this past June, I found myself wishing I had booked CSR!!! I really missed the resort, the food, the pool and on and on and on!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Yes, the barrier between the two is a floor to ceiling rod iron fence with a gate. :cool1:

We have stayed at all the moderate resorts and this one is the only one that we ran into this problem at. And, yes, it was the conventioners every night because they all wore their convention nametags. Now, it may have just been this particular convention. But that is how it was the week we were there.

In what area are the handicapped accessible rooms...the ones with roll-in shower located?...?

That's why WDW has many resorts to choose from so that everyone can be happy. I'm sure there is one out there for you. :wave2:

Exactly, probelms can occur at any resort at WDW. You read about things everyday here on the DIS.

CSR is a great resort. Best of all the mods, one sink or not. Best transportation, centrally located to all the parks, awesome main pool area, and beautifully landscaped. It is one of the most beautiful resorts at WDW. :cheer2:

ps - we have never encounter problems with any of the convention people.

We love CSR!! Sitting by the pool, drinking margaritas and eating nachos while the kids swim. It's great! The casitas have some of the best courtyards and fountains anywhere, bland, I don't think so, but to each their own.

CSR rocks!! We had such a great stay during our last visit, we rebook as soon as we got home for next year. The buses are less crowded (convention resort perk) and they are quick & reliable.

The main pool area has a great hot tub that is part of the main area yet secluded behind some shrubs and trees with a few tables around it.

The cabanas are closest to the beach and have a quiet pool. I think I remember reading that cabana 9a is smoking optional though so if you don't like smoke, just make sure you let them know. 9a has the quiet pool.

You are correct regarding the internal shuttles. Very frequent.

ps - WE LOVE CSR too!!!
