We also had need of "Centracare" services when we were there recently. We were actually over at AKL for a dinner reservation when we needed the van. They took great care of us! They have the brochures at the concierge desk at the resorts. Never hurts to be prepared!

We are currently driving home so I have a few minutes to try to do my review. We really enjoyed our stay at CSR. The resort is beautiful. DH was disappointed by what he considered to be a lack of Christmas decor.

The computers were down when we got there so the line was huge but it came up not 10 minutes after we got in line. The people at the beginning of the line had been waiting almost 2 hours! My daughter and son were given balloons and stickers to help occupy them while we waited. We were assigned to Casitas 5124. We had not paid for a water view, but did have a lovely fountain view. Our little boy loved that fountain!

Mousekeeping was hit or miss. Never had any towel animals, which was fine. However on our next to the last day, the bagged up trash was left in the middle of the room, only two towels were left and the beds were rather haphazardly made, which was not okay.

We had to use urgent care while we were here, when my daughter had a fever of almost 103. We just used the facility printed on CSR's resort info. They were WONDERFUL. They send a van to pick us up and she was seen, given medicine and back to the resort in a little less than 3 hours. I would highly recommend them if anyone unfortunately needs those services.

We ate at Cafe Rix once and took our food out to the lake, which was nice. The food was okay, nothing spectacular but fine. We ate at Pepper Market very late the night we came back from urgent care. My chicken fajitas were wonderful, as good as our local Mexican restaurant, which is very good. We had a very sweet server, who could tell my daughter didn't feel well and she tried everything to make her smile.

The gift shop was nice. I did do some shopping there and they have a decent selection available.

We did take advantage of the luggage room because our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived. But we got a text not ten minutes after the luggage room took our luggage into storage. So we just called them and they had it at our room in about 10 minutes. We also used Garden Grocer while we were here and it was stored in the luggage room while we were in the park and they brought it right to us when we got back. Very friendly and helpful.

Bus service ROCKED! We never waited longer than 15-20 minutes for a bus and that was only once when we had just missed one. We always had boring drivers (have had very entertaining ones in the past).

I think that pretty much summed it all up for the resort. I would definitely come back here. We did book a bounceback for May, but not to CSR because we are going to be coming with some friends and staying in a 2 bedroom villa at Old Key West. I've never stayed in a deluxe before :)

First, I am so sorry your daughter got sick on the trip (I hope she is feeling much better now for Santa). Glad that the urgent care worked out.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay at CSR (Casitas 5 is one of our favorites).

You are going to LOVE Old Key West. We've stayed at the CSR nine out of our last eleven visits (the Poly was our choice in 2004 for our son's high school graduation with his girlfriend). We had a great deal to stay at OKW in September (free points) and we loved it...so relaxing and quiet. Enjoy!

We got here the 18th and leave the 29th. Did you see our room window. We too were upgraded and I actually asked for the Ranchos. I too agree the Buses are super great except on Wed when trying to leave the MK...that was a nightmare. Had breakfast at PM, so now we've had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Lunch is probably my choice of the three. Servers have been very nice and friendly. A few of the preparers we are little snooty our first night, but have since been very nice. Mousekeeping is great except for the 2 days our lady was off. We are daily tippers and have extras of everything...it's getting to be too much. Santa and Mickey were in the lobby last night. Wish I had my camera. DS8's favorite place is the pool here. It is AWESOME! Better go...

Merry Christmas to all my friends here on the CSR thread. I hope you all have a magical day with your family.

Merry Christmas to you all!

My ticker is really counting down now...Feb is getting SO close!

I have plans to pack instant oatmeal packets for simple in-room breakfasts in case we get sick of using our snack credits for muffins, yogurt, fruit, etc, --if I am unable to secure a microwave while I'm there I can just use the coffee maker to heat some hot water, right? And, is the water safe to drink or do I really need to use bottled water? If we need bottled water, it would have to be from Panchito's so I'm not sure if they sell a gallon of it. Our other plan is to buy a quart of milk and pack dry cereal in our suitcase.

Yes, you can use the coffee maker to heat water. The water is safe to drink, but the water at WDW doesn't taste great (might be fine for oatmeal, though, since the oatmeal will cover up the taste). We usually bring water, but we drive. I don't know if Panchito's sells gallons of water, but they do sell water.

I didn't see your window. Wish we had. My daughter had brought every small Disney character we owned to decorate ours and she was disappointed that we didn't see any others decorated.

I did not see any gallons of water there. Even though we drove, we had limited luggage space, so I ordered from garden grocer and just had all my grocery items delivered. It was worth the delivery fee to not have to deal with it.

We just returned from a week at CSR. I was very impressed with the resort in every way.

We also arrived the day of the computers being down. We were given park passes that we did not use as we went to Orlando for groceries and a little shopping. I thought I would check at guest services to see when the passes expired and was pleased to find out that they are good until 2021!!

I booked three rooms. (one for my married daughter and her DH, one for my 18 & 20 year old sons, and one for me and DH). I never requested any location as I had heard so many different ideas of where the best place to be was. We were located in Casitas 1. I think I was lucky to get this location!??Two of the three rooms were upgraded to junior suites!! We loved the extra room and second bathroom!! We also loved having the 2 fridges as we ate breakfast in the room most days and had beverages on hand as well.

Housekeeping was good every day with small extras done to the room each day.

We used the pool and hot tub a couple of times and found the hot tub HOT! Maybe that is how they make sure people don't stay in too long.

Pepper Market was the only disappointing meal of our entire stay. But to be honest, we were not very hungry when we went there for that day for supper, so that could contribute to our opinion.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat!! I did not feel that the resort was run down at all. I was again very pleased with the quality of our Disney vacation.

We stayed at CSR in February and loved it. We stayed in Cabanas 8B and it was the perfect location between the Dig Site and the parking lot/bus stop. Since we drive from CT, we almost always drive to the parks. We were concerned that being so close to the pool, it would be noisy in the evening. We couldn't hear anything. (We are early to bed, early to rise people). My only complaint was that there was a strange odor in our bathroom. I couldn't quite pinpoint what it was, I just know I didn't like it. I called the main desk and they offered to switch our room but we liked the location so much we opted not to do that. We were getting ready to head out and they said they would clean the bathroom well that day. It didn't help. I called again and they apologized and said they would be by to "super clean" the room. I have never experienced anything but amazing service at Disney and was confident this would finally help. They ended up not coming. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor. Within an hour, they came right in (we left again) and did a very thorough cleaning which included changing out the shower curtain and liner, bed spreads, etc. Problem solved. The smell was gone! On our next trip, we thought we might try one of the Royal Guest rooms at POR but actually called back to switch to CSR. We have requested the same building so that we can take advantage of that awesome location again. :goodvibes

I too love the Cabanas and always request first floor somewhere in the Cabanas with a preference for Cabanas 8A. The only Cabanas building I've not been in is 8B.:rotfl: I may need to request it next time. I've been in Cabanas 9B twice, 9A twice, and 8A twice (as well as Casitas 1 and 2). All of the Cabanas are fairly close to the main pool, bus stop, and main building and I've never had a problem with pool noise in any of the rooms. In fact, Dec 2010 I had a wonderful corner room in Cabanas 9A. The side window overlooked the Cabana quiet pool and the front window overlooked the lake. It was a perfect location. I was literally maybe 10 steps from the quiet pool and halfway between bus stops 1 and 4. I never heard a sound. I too always go to bed early and am awake very early. Sorry to hear about the bad smell in your bathroom, but glad to hear they took care of you.

I know it's on this thread but I can't seem to find it. I'm looking for the convention list for 2012. We are planning on going May 26-June 1.

TIA:confused3

Page 1, Post 4 is where you will find the convention list (scroll through page 4 as it is after the midway point of that post).

We just got back from CSR - we done a split stay between Disney and Universal. The resort is beautiful. It has a slight edge over Port Orleans Riverside for us for atmosphere.

As always, my room request was not honored because the resort was full. I've never had a request honored at Disney but I do everywhere else (go figure that I never get pixie dust). We ended up in Rancho's 7A and wanted Casitas..but it worked out well as it did not face the parking lot, but was close the bus stop and the quiet pool. Late in the trip my feet thanked them due to the bus stop locality. It was somewhat of a hike to everything else, but not too bad until toward the end of the trip when I was tired. It seems we had to walk even more when we stayed at Port Orleans.

Maya Grill was one of our favorite meals during this trip...my absolute fav meal and the fav after Le Cellier for the rest of our party. Awesome food and atmosphere there especially if you like Latin food.

Pepper Market was nice - ate there three times. 1st time was better than the 2nd/3rd. Waiters were very pleasant, but some of the cooks were snotty on one or two of the visits.

Housekeeping absolutely stunk. We had a party of 4, but every day they just left 2 wash cloths, hardly ever replenished soap/shampoo, etc. Had to call to get more every night and wait around for them to come..I started putting in the do not disturb sign since I had to call anyway as I figured I'd tip those doing all the work. VERY disappointed with that service and I will be emailing Disney about this.

Bus service - most of the time it was awesome. One time we had to wait entirely too long at MK for the bus to come though...not sure what the problem was that evening.

Will we visit CSR again? Maybe... or we might try another resort when we come back just to try new things. We had a wonderful time, but I think we've had enough of Disney for a bit and will vacation at non theme park areas for a few years instead. Disney needs to add more to their parks (which I know they are working on) to pull us back. We feel Disney was lacking just a little bit since our last visit...not sure what it was...just couldn't put our finger on it. I think I expected a little more of a holiday feel than what we got (the most awesome thing was the Osborne lights and Illuminations and EPCOT will forever remain my favorite park). However, we felt more of the actual holiday spirit overall at Universal during our time there...it was very festive and decorated from top to bottom. We were also treated like VIP guests at the Royal Pacific and the express pass you get for the rides so you don't walk your legs off like you do getting fast pass tickets at Disney and the proximity of the resort to the parks and City Walk just sweetened the experience over there for us.

I also should've added how much we liked the poolside bar/snack bar. We are up at 6, grab a pop tart (unless we have a breakfast ADR) and are at the parks 45 minutes before rope drop. Sometimes we eat lunch (CS) in the park and other times we headed straight back to the resort around 12 or 1, change into bathing suits, and go for a swim. This, of course, always depends on the weather but last February we were lucky enough to enjoy 8 straight days of 80-85 degree weather without a drop of rain. (A FAR cry from the 2.5 FEET of snow we left in behind in CT). We swim for the afternoon...our kids love the pool and water slide as much as they love the parks. We were able to use a couple of CS credits at the snack bar and share our lunch poolside. (Just be sure not to leave your food unattended as we learned on the second day...these enormous birds swarmed the lounge chairs where other people near us left their food. It seriously scared me half to death...Alfred Hitchcock would've been proud.
Anyway, after the pool, we head back to the room to dress for our dinner ADR and figure out based on where the ADR is, which park we will Park hop to. We are usually back to the room, blissfully exhausted by 8 or 9. :cloud9: Lather, rinse, repeat. :rotfl:

Sorry, I am new to this. How do you post pics:confused3? Thank you for your help:thumbsup2

I'm the wrong person to ask, but as I understand it, you have to upload pictures to a photo sharing site like Photobucket and paste the URL for the picture here. There is an icon that looks like a mountain on the tool bar when you are posting that says "insert image" if you hover over it. If you click on that, you can insert the web address for the photo you want to post.

Hope this helps! I've never posted pictures - I had Kathy (KatMark) help me with the photos for this thread! :goodvibes

Mouseplanet reported some upcoming CSR construction in its weekly WDW update:

:rotfl:Get an AP. That little bugger just keeps getting out of it's box to book future trips. At least that's what I keep telling my family.:rotfl::rotfl: Really without the AP discounts I get, I couldn't make as many trips as I do. (I used an AP discount for my upcoming Feb trip, but for the May, Sept, and Oct/Nov trips I booked bounceback deals when I was there earlier this month. I'm hoping an AP discount comes out for each of them that beats the bounceback though.) Plus I work in a very high stress job (only 11-7 RN on a psychiatric behavioral unit) and really, really need those trips away from reality to keep my own sanity.:rotfl:

Thanks for the updates. One more excuse why I want to avoid the Ranchos section on my May trip.:rotfl:
