Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

I know a lot of people have asked, but I can't find confirmation...do the water orders shipped from Costco end up with bell services, or get treated as convention material? I'm debating between that or Garden Grocer, but because all we really want is water, would prefer Costco.

Also, my SIL is arriving a couple of days later and will have a car so we can buy our own water from that point on.

How far is the Hess station from the resort? I'm guessing nothing is within walking distance.

I called the front desk and asked this question. I was told that when the delivery arrives they will call me in the room to see if I am there and if not they will hold it for me. I asked about convention and they said no because I am not a convention guest.I was also told from garden grocer that they will call my cell when they arrive. We also were just getting water and liked the sizes of the water bottles from garden grocer so that is what we went with.
We shall see what exactly happens at delivery, lol.

Thank you!!!

Does CSR have a complimentary business center where you can access the Internet and print things (like Google maps, etc.)?

When you call the "front desk", you are actually routed to a call center. They simply answer as "Coronado Springs." They're not at the resort, and they very well may not know the answer to your questions.

If calls really went to the front desk of hotels, no guests would ever get checked in!

So will bell services bring it to your room? I have ordered some things as I don't want to carry four wks worth of diappers etc on the plane from Australia. I have never used garden grocer so hope it arrives alright. Has anyone else used garden grocer at CSR? Also I have requested for some gift baskets I ordered to be delivered to our room prior to checking in as we have paid for an extra night and don't arrive until 5am so our room will be ready and waiting. I have requested through betsy gifts to put them in the room so that when we open the door the kids will get a nice surprise. I am worried that this won't happen. I did this through disney last year in disneyland with mouse ear hat things, it had their names on the hats but they didn't arrive until we had all climbed into bed after such a long flight. I was not happy to be woken to that! although I never said anything.

This won't happen. Your specific room is not assigned until you check in, no matter what time that is, so nothing will be delivered to your room before you get there. Your best bet is to call back and ask for it to be put into your room the NEXT day, so it'll be there when you get back from the parks. Besides, you don't REALLY want to wind your kids up when you're trying to get some sleep after a long flight, do you? :rotfl:

Yes that is a good point I don't want to wind up the kids when all I will want to do is sleep. We have dinner reservations at 7pm in DTD so I might request that they be put in the room then. We are going to try and only sleep until around 2pm.

I am trying to book two rooms for the above dates. All that is showing available online are king rooms and suites. We need rooms with 2 Queen beds. Do you think they are really booked this early? Is there a convention scheduled during this time? I am going to call tomorrow and see if I get a different answer.

I don't see anything listed on the front page. However, that list was composed by research and people letting us know, so it is not a complete list that I am aware of. I would call in the morning and see what they say.

Can someone tell me which section the water view rooms are in? Are they scattered all over and could include a pool view?

TIA! :)

I can't tell you which section the water view rooms are in because I haven't been there since 2007, but I will caution you that the Coronado does classify some rooms as water view that are most definitely not. We had a room in 2007 that was classified as Water View...and it was at one time, I'm sure, but a large tree had grown in front of our balcony area (outside the front door, not a true balcony for the room) and blocked the entire view. Literally, there was nothing to look at but that tree. When we brought this up with management, they literally shrugged their shoulders and did nothing.

There are water views in each section -- Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas. It could be a view of the lake (which we have had six times), a quiet pool, a fountain in the courtyard or, literally, a puddle of water. Disney has a "weird" defiition of water view.

Thanks for the quick replies. All that was left was the "water view" rooms so I guess it really doesn't matter what view we get. Last year we stayed in Cabanas 8A and loved the location so I wanted to make sure it is possible to be in that area. We loved being close to bus stop 2 and the Dig site. I am going to submit a request and see what happens - I know it is only a request. ;)

Cabanas 8A is not by Bus Stop 2, however. Bus Stop 2 is located in the Casitas so you were probably between Bus Stop 3 and 4. There is never any harm in making a request. :)

Thanks so much for posting these pictures. I stayed here for my honeymoon and the service was horrible. The first room we were given was occupied (people lying on the beds taking naps.) Service was horrible, and the people here were incredibly rude. We stayed in the Ranchos area, and it was very quiet, but a long walk from the front to fill out our mugs. I am happy to see the updated the rooms and such, I really like the new decor. The grounds were so beautiful that we are going to give it another go for our trip next May. I just hope we have a better stay this time around as I can't see staying at Carribean Beach.

I am glad to see that you are giving the CSR another try. Unfortunately, you can have bad or rude service at any of the resorts (our rudest service by far was at the Contemporary). If you encounter a rude CM, ask for a Manager. I have found that it is the best way to deal with an uncomfortable situation or a problem.

Quick smoking question - looking at the map, there are no DSAs near 8A (although, it is close to the pool). Nevertheless, I did notice some reports in the DSA thread about spots in the 8A area. How accurate is this, as I'd like to know what to request to avoid smoke.

Also, I noticed that there seem to be a lot of smoking points along the various paths around the lake and pools. How large are these DSAs in comparison to the path? Are we talking a little one person corner on a wide path or a path-wide zone?

The smoking areas are basically along the path around the lake at the benches that are provided. There is one that I remember being near the outdoor tables on the side nearest the Pepper Market. I've never actually "walked through Cabanas 8A" so I'm not sure just where they are located. But all of the Casitas and Cabanas 9A they were located around the perimiter of the lake at the benches.

There's a nice spot near the bridge right next to the Dig Site. We did get a few nasty looks but tough noogies. It's a designated area.
