Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the rooms at CSR were larger than at POP. Or was that just the king room and not the queen bed rooms being larger than POP?

Sorry I probably wasn't very clear. Yes the rooms are bigger at the mods than at the value resorts. What I meant was that the rooms were originally designed for 2 double beds and I was worried that by changing the beds to 2 queen that the room would feel more cramped, like at POP, b/c that was not the original design. The deluxe resorts which have 2 queens do so with more sq feet. Hope that clarifies things.

So now I'm really sad :sad2: . When I look online, it tells me no rooms are available for our dates/party size. Do you think they hold out on what they offer online vs. if I called to make reservations?

Judy

I don't think it's different on the phone vs. online. I read earlier in this thread that sometimes the big conventions block out most if not all the resort and then the release the rooms later if they don't fill up. That may be why CSR seems booked up earlier than a lot of the other resorts.

The rooms at Pop are 260 square feet and the rooms at CSR are 314 square feet.

I should have been more clear. When I try to go thru the 35% off page there are no rooms, but if I do the $500 giftcard there are. And also if I do a regular rate room there are availabilites. I really don't want the gift card, we're going to the the dining plan, and won't be buying many things other than food.

If we are checking in later at night (around 9:30-10pm) will there be bell service to help us get our luggage and 2 cases of water bottles to our room? If not would there atleast be rolling luggage carts we could use? We won't have a rental car.

anybody???:confused3

Only a certain number of rooms are available for each promotion. Once those are booked, usually no others are available.
Apparently, there are still rooms open for the giftcard promo.

There should be someone at bell services. There are golf carts to bring you and your luggage to the rooms. I don't know why there wouldn't be someone for you.

That's the annoying thing with the deals. Only so many rooms are allocated per resort per deal so even if there are rooms left you may not be able to get what you want in the deal you want.

We had the same problem last yer with the 4/3, we wanted a preferred room at POP, but only Standard rooms were left for the 4/3 deal even though there were preferred rooms left at rack rate.

I saw guests with there luggage being whipped around in the golf carts at all times.:surfweb:

Great. I thought I'd read some posts that they weren't taking guest on golf carts anymore. Maybe that is just during the day getting around the resort not when you are checking in or out?

Have you booked already? You could book the gift card room with tickets only, then use the gift card for dining. Depending on how many you have in your family it may balance out close.

Well, I called and did my reservation over the phone. They confirmed that there were not anymore rooms at the 35% off, so I went with the next best thing... a $500 gift card. I'm commited now :yay: .

So I've got a room for 4 at Coronado, Park Hopper and Water Park tickets for 6 days and a Plus Dining Plan. And to top it off, all my DDP reservations are done except for 1 nite :woohoo: .

I'm unsure if doing the DDP was the way to go, but at least food is budgeted in already. And I guess we'll use the card to pay for "something" we wouldn't have done otherwise.

If you take the PH and WP ticket portions off, you may be able to pay for them with the gift card at one of the ticket booth things. I know you already added the dining plan, but you could also take the dining plan off, keep your ADRs and use the gift card for that if you really don't know if you'll spend it on anything else.

Actually since you only have to book a 1 day ticket with a MYW package you could downgrade the tickets by $500 and then use the gift card to upgrade once you get there. Fro example turn your 6 day ticket with Park Hopper and Water Parks to 2-3 days (what ever is $500 less)

That way you would be getting $500 off the price of your reservation which may be close to what the 35% would be.

I would call and check that you can use a gift card to purchase tickets, but I cant' see why not.

My husband has been trying to find a new job for over a year. He's in retail sales, and we have just decided that our family would benefit from more stability and a better, more "normal" schedule. He FINALLY made it through the last step in getting a job with the federal government (months after starting the process) and just found out that he'd be starting Feb. 1, with the first 2 weeks being training. We were supposed to go to Disney Feb 6-13. We won't find out until this week if they are going to let him go or not. The anticipation is KILLING me. Don't get me wrong - him getting this job would be so great for our family and I am praying he does. BUT my 3 year old is so excited, I cannot even think about telling her we have to change it. She's been marking off the days until our trip EVERY day on a countdown calendar I made for her since the beginning of November. Every time she watches a Disney movie where Cinderella's castle pops up at the very beginning, she screams "That's where we're going!" And if we don't go in Feb, we probably won't go until early December. I cannot believe after all this planning and anticipation, we might have to wait almost another year!!! No question here. Just venting to all my fellow Disney lovers!! Here's hoping he gets the job AND they let him take the vacation!!!

Well, we found out Friday that my husband did not get the job we'd been hoping for. We were really shocked. He made it all the way to the last step. They even sent out his preliminary paperwork they require for a really extensive background check. Everyone told us that if you make it to that step, you're pretty much in. Well, unfortunately that wasn't the case. We didn't even have time to finish filling out the forms and he got an email saying he wasn't chosen. Oh well. We'll keep trying!! On the bright side, we're headed to Disney in less than two weeks!!! I started packing this weekend and cannot wait to step foot in our room at CSR!! :)

I'm so sorry DH didn't get the job. What makes it worse is, as you said, he got the preliminary paperwork and everything. Well, I'm sure something even better will come around when you get back from your trip.

Have a magical time at Disney World and I truly hope you enjoy your stay at the CSR.

I was told by my TA that one of the few limitations on these gift cards is upgrades to tickets or dining. You have to book the ticket/dining package you want. YOu can however use the gift card to pay for tips or alternatively, drop the dining completely since it is not required in the package and use the gift card to pay for your food entirely (think of it as free dining with hotel at rack rate, depending on the size of your family, it may come out about the same)

Actually since you only have to book a 1 day ticket with a MYW package you could downgrade the tickets by $500 and then use the gift card to upgrade once you get there. Fro example turn your 6 day ticket with Park Hopper and Water Parks to 2-3 days (what ever is $500 less)

The gift card package does require a 6 day ticket purchase. Again, the card cannot be used for upgrades on tickets/dining. We decided to splurge on deluxe dining and use the giftcard to pay for drinks/tips since we are not big souvenir people

It's official. Just booked our mini-stay at CSR.
February 2nd through the 4th.

We have a 5 year old, bus service is not important, but being close to El Centro and having a building with an elevator is important. Any suggestions? I think I read Casitas 4 or 5, but wanted to be sure. Also, since we're only about 10 days out, when would I send in my room request information?

We were also able to get reservations for the character breakfast at Liberty Tree on the 4th (this was a plus, because I didn't realize they had moved it there while CP underwent renovations) and Rainforest Cafe on the 3rd for dinner (AK is open an extra 3 hours that day, which is why we planned it this way). We were unable to get anything for T-Rex, but she told us to try walking up the night of the 2nd since it's a weekday and we might get lucky.

Thank you again for this great thread. I never would have known the entire resort was remodeled and probably would be paying $150 more for AKL :)
